When you turn the engine off with the door open, the truck beeps at you. This is possibly the MOST annoying feature of the vehicle. When working on the farm, pretty much every time I turn the truck off, my door is open.

Is there anyway to disable this??

Try pushing the door switch that turns the interior lights on for a second. On my 2019 I hear the steering column lock and the beeping stops when I do this. The button is on the B pillar at your left elbow...

That’s usually what I end up doing. But then I curse the Toyota engineers then yell at the sun “Who cares if I turn my engine off with the door open?”

I don’t think the sun is offended.

In fact, I’ve considered shorting that switch to fix the issue. Probably some unintended consequences I’ve not thought of.

Haha ... I know what you mean. I have a Jeep TJ that doesn't beep at my for anything, and I can even reach in the window and start it. Of course, just last weekend, I went to start the Jeep and remembered that I had to remove the key from my pocket...

Your response is the reason I seldom post on forums at all. It’s useless, combative, and does not address my question in any way shape or form. Is it just impossible for you not to respond from your moms basement, you twat?? Let’s make forums better together!! Make Forums Great Again!! Dummy

And you just made yourself a perfect example of what you're bitching about.
    You asked a question.
    I provided an answer.
Obviously not what you were looking for, so you could of ignored it. But ya didn't.
BTW, my Mom died 34 years ago this November.

The reminder that keys have left the proximity of the vehicle is annoying but to make it stop either leave keys inside, push door jam button , or shut it down.
Truck can be driven away by someone with or without the keys at the point it beeps, so I just ignore it and leave keys in cup holder so I dont lose them. Unless I lose the whole truck lol …

You just gotta continue with the digs, don't ya?
To borrow someone else's phrase: "Your response is the reason I seldom post on forums at all. It’s useless, combative, and ..."
Seems like that's your style as well.
Been out of that basement probably for more years than you've been alive.
    'nuff said. I'm done here.

To be clear, the question was “Is there anyway to DISABLE this?”

Not “how to avoid this…or…what am I doing wrong?”

So, no! Actually you didn’t answer the f%#}ing question. You simply typed some useless response. An answer to the question might have sounded like “No, there is no way to disable it. You simply need to turn your engine off prior to opening your door.”
