Dasaita Head Unit for 2nd Gen Tacoma

So I FINALLY got the correct harness and everything is working. I have to double check the buttons and figure out why CarPlay won’t let me set it up. I also was able to grab an older head unit on eBay for $18 and that includes shipping and tax. Thank you eBay auctions.

EDIT: Everything is working perfectly. Had to reverse the mirror display because it originally came up backwards

not sure if the regular ODB fusion will do it but if you buy the ODBlink mx device and use ODBLink (basically the same as fusion but its the app for their devices) then it accesses some additional Toyota enhanced PIDs. I have Fuel, remaining fuel, avg fuel etc and a bunch of other stuff including 2 transmission temps. I also have an Ultra guague but mainly so I could see a few things all the time without connecting but you get way more out of a BT setup.

Bluetooth to the head unit or phone. Very helpful in the time of need. Lots of features for $13s

 

This was the one i ended up needing. Idk why but the other one didnt let the unit power up. I think there may have been some issues with the wires or one of the plugs but this one ended up working and allowing me to do everything I needed. I am returning this one because i have one for less than half the price i found on ebay from Dasaita but I was growing impatient so the other wiring will be here thursday and I will swap it out and make sure it still works.

How were you able to get the Apple CarPlay to work? Did you need to purchase a CarPlay dongle? I’m struggling to get it going on my unit. Also did that harness allow you to run your factory backup camera?

 

it connected once I had it all hooked up and yes it allowed for it. Make sure you go into settings and setup your canbus

 

So I got the radio early but I’m less than happy. I paid under $20 but it arrived damaged in the one area I needed

 

Send it back. No. Burn it, then send the ashes back.

 

I messaged the seller telling him it arrived damaged and his response was "okay"

5 minutes later i got a full refund so


Now its time to take it apart and see if i still cant use it to at least hold the hazards in place because I was looking at replacements last night and they want 5 times what i paid.

 

The hazard bracket you need looks like it's missing in this shot.

It fell out when i pulled it out of the box. its broken bc they didnt package it well so it crunched it like potato chips. And i appreciate you keeping an eye out. I just need the piece not the unit.

That won’t work. Unless it’s a diff version. That was the first thing I tried. Ended up picking up an eBay shell. Also came busted but what I needed was there. Funny it wasn’t even a full radio just the face of it but luckily it had what I needed. Even then it’s not perfect but did the trick.
