Will 285s kill my low end torque?

Thinking about going to 33s, but I have a concern about one of the roads here that goes up to a 39% grade (waipio valley road). On stock tires, the taco struggles to keep 10mph in 4lo 1st gear as my foot is kept to the floor...

If I go up to 33s, will I still be able to get up this hill without regearing? Even if it crawls at say 5mph

I don't really care about losing power and acceleration otherwise like on the highway. It's a truck after all

The tacoma doesn't really have much low end torque to begin with, so no it won't kill it but it will be a decrease. If you have the slush box, probably not as noticeable.

A wider tire won't, but a taller tire will.

I didn't notice too much when I had my BFG KO2 285/70/17 which run a little short but I noticed a significant drop when I went to 285/75/17 Cooper ST Max tires which run a little tall.

So 32 and below is fine, 34 and above get gears.

A KDMAX tune helps a lot of people who run 285s.
