Well I guess what I was getting at is to replace the tensioner you have to replace the bracket which is under the AC compressor, which is under the alternator, which means, now is the time to replace the bracket and tensioner, belt slap could have lead to the pump shaft shearing and you're replacing the pump so while everything is out of the way do your left VVT-i head screen, and belt tensioner bracket/arm/pulley since you're in the neighborhood.

No sense in doing a job twice if it can be avoided.

Definitely, which is why I provided the ambient temp as it will vary but it seems it's not kicking on at all.. I had a similar situation, I didn't have ac for two years and found that the magnetic compressor sensor wire had corroded all the way to the top of the engine in the wire loom due to high water crossing.

I went as far as to test continuity from the ac amplifier harness but it was still difficult to detect as it wasn't a total short. During a large storm and lots of flooding, enough water got into the loom and the ac kicked on, which got me thinking so I traced the wires back from the sensor on the compressor.

I ran a new 4' length of wire (sensor output to ac amplifier). Surprised I survived the Texas heat, road trips and off-roading just with the windows rolled down lol

I've been in the business for 34 years. No one I know ever called one the other, unless they were mistaken. Compressors raise the pressure of a product,
pumps only cause a differential pressure to cause the product to move.

One compresses vapor, the other pumps liquid. A compressor doesn't like liquid, and a pump doesn't like vapor.

Well here is an actual description off the internet. Seems to me a they agree the compressor pumps the refrigerant around in a circle even if it isn't by conventional means. Sorry if you haven't ever heard this before.

The compressor is driven by a belt attached to the vehicle’s engine which is engaged by an electromagnetic clutch called the compressor clutch. This is right behind the radiator. When the clutch is engaged the compressor pumps the refrigerant, R-134a or R12, throughout the closed loop system. It starts by compressing the low-pressure gas from the inlet side into a high pressure/temperature gas. The temperature is achieved by taking heat out of the air. This hot gas is then discharged into the condenser (located in front of the radiator) on the low-pressure side. The low-pressure cools the gas and from there it goes to the evaporator and kicks out cold air into a car. The process then starts all over again.

Exactly. Good catch on that wire.
I had a shop double check what was going on since my high side gauge wasn't working. Yes clutch engaged and everything turning. No change in pressure. Pump no good. Changing it now. Doing the condenser/filter dryer at same time. Also going new not rebuilt. Price difference not worth it.

So it isn't the ground wire screw?

The clutch wouldn't engage if it was that.

Kind of. It was just a shot in the dark because when my ground wire screw was lose, I could tell the compressor would kick on but then shut off and I really couldn't tell it had shut off other than the air being warm.
