Howdy. I’m thinking about installing an ARB single compressor in my 2020 6MT and was looking for some advice on the best location and which brackets to use. I’ll be using the compressor for airing up air shocks, primarily, but also tires. Would be great to be able to use the box cubby on the passenger side but not sure what mounting plate options there are? Thanks in advance.

I just got the Desert does it under seat bracket. @EasyDoesIt (Steve) was awesome and even hand delivered it to me. Only issue is the seat bracket + sunroof leaves it a little cramped for a passenger. It didn’t want the compressor out in the elements so that’s why I went with them.

I highly recommend the expedition essentials mount that @Bertw192 linked. It's high quality and I was/am very impressed with it.

They also sell a relocation kit that will allow you to fit it on the passenger side and not interfere with the outlets back there. I opted for a harder installation, as I actually cut the compartment that Toyota removed from the drivers side back into my 2021 and put my compressor there. But to each their own, the passenger side works just as well.

If you are using an air locker you will want the compressor outside of the vehicle and avoid mounting it above anything sensitive. The air locker solenoid will drip diff fluid from time to time if you don't cycle the locker regularly (i.e. if the truck sits for a while). The seals sit in the oil and it is normal for fluid to work its way up the line over time if you don't force air through it. Just a PSA, I guess.

I used the Expedition Essential cubby mount on the driver's side cubby as well. Very happy with it. If you do, consider sealing the box as much as possible due to dirt/dust getting in there. I ran the supplied extension cable to the bottom of the box and used a 90deg conduit connector to feed it through. I added a lock to the cubby door as well.

This looks like a very clean install. How did you run the extension cable up to the front of the truck?

That was probably the most PITA part of the install. I ran it down the engine bay (under the brake master) and away from the hot parts and then along the frame. The length of the cable from the factory was just about perfect meaning not a lot extra length so make sure you don't leave a lot of slack anywhere or you might not have enough at the end. If you enter the box at the forward end you will have more cable by I wanted to enter from the bottom so I could mount the compressor as far forward as possible for storage of hose, etc. in the box.

I have the same mount and wanted to add the manifold, but didn’t think it would fit. How did you tighten the bolts by the fender side? Did you remove that plastic piece by the to tighten those bolts?

Those that are mounting it in the bed - how dirty does that area get?

I also have the slee mount that was linked. No complaints.

A word of caution, do not overtighten the the fitting on the ARB outlet. I put a hairline crack on the tank and had to replace the tank. It didn't take much, just a bit more than snug cracked it. The part was a PIA to find.

Filthy. To the point my compressor won’t work and yours won’t either if you do any sort of driving on dirt roads. I can’t express how terrible of a design the expedition essentials bed mount is. There’s absolutely no reason it needs to have an open top despite what they say. They sell an equally terrible design for a top cover, but dirt and mud accumulate around the bottom of the box still and it eventually fills and will clog the compressor. Do yourself a favor - save money and find a way to put it under the hood.
