Happy hump day.

Dropped the truck off yesterday at Firestone, mid afternoon. They seemed busy, so hoping to hear something today.

 

So when I dropped off the truck yesterday, there was only one guy working the front desk, and the line was getting longer and longer.

When it got to be my turn, I told him I was just dropping it off so he jotted the info on a piece of paper.

I hadn't heard anything yet, so I called. Guy that answered the phone said the truck was there for emissions. LMFAO! I knew that shit was gonna go wrong when I dropped it off, and even told my wife that when I dropped it off.

Told them no, they were wrong, and what it was really there for. Guy apologized and said he's have it corrected and let me know.

Just can't find good help these days I guess.

 

Had my appointment with the good folks at Larocca this morning and can recommend. Thanks again for pointing me their way. They did my alignment first thing at opening while I waited and price was way reasonable compared to California prices. Just honest decent people, no frills. Some old car advertisement on the wall too (pictured below).

Saw one of the groups of electrical utility trucks headed south on I-95, so they must be returning from fixing things in RI.

Stay cool next few days folks, looks like it's going to be warm.

So they called me, and told me that the ABS light thing has something to do with the system not communicating with the computer, and only Toyota can read/diagnose/fix it because they have the equipment to do it.

Great... just fucking great.

 

Afternoon Connecticut . It’s a hot one at Hammonansset

 

So this happened yesterday evening:


I'm in my garage/driveway and these 2 guys, maybe 19-20 year olds, come walking up the driveway telling me their friends stranded them and could they please use my phone to call home for a ride. So I call the number they provide and put it on speaker. Some woman answers and asks why the F they are so far away and a bunch of Spanish I didn't understand and then hangs up. They ask if I can drive them to Bridgeport (40 min away, I am in Cheshire). I said I can't do that but I could call them a cab. They misunderstood thinking I was going to pay for the cab. Cleared that up then called "mom" again. More swearing and Spanish and click. She's at work and not coming. They ask me if there is a train station near by. Waterbury or Meriden would be the closet. So they ask to point them in the direction of Bridgeport (like they’re going to walk there). I tell them there is a bus stop about a mile up the road but don’t know the schedule or where it goes. They leave and I go inside to tell my wife about this encounter. Now my wife wants to help these guys if they really are in need of help. She wants to call the “mom” and talk to her mom to mom. I said no we should just stay out of it. Then she wants to drive down the road to find them and see if we can help more. While discussing this, about 10 min later, two police SUV’s go flying by in the direction those guys headed. We get in the car to see what’s going on and if it’s those guys. Sure enough, there they are near the bus stop getting arrested. Like 5 cop cars. So we end up calling the local police station to give them the info and ask if we were in danger or anything. They took our statement and said the guys had fled the scene of an accident. Guess they either got scared cause the accident was their fault or they had drugs or had been drinking or something. Guess they weren’t smart enough to realize the car an be traced back to them. Unless it was stolen. Anyway, I’m all for helping people in need but you just can’t trust strangers. You put your own well being at risk and it’s not worth it.

I'm a nice guy but I'm very leery of helping anybody unless I know them personally.

 

So, I dropped off the truck at Toyota today before they closed. Guess we'll see what they say tomorrow.

And they're also going to inspect the frame since I guess it's time for that.

I pick them up sometimes. My dad used to do it, and I feel like I should grab them if they look like hikers and its super hot or rainy out.
