If you know anyone you can trust thats flying to the east coast, you can offer them a job to drive it back for a fraction of that provided all the insurance and registration is done in advance. Its what i did to pick up a boat from florida while working here in connecticut.

Actually, I'll see your smartass and raise you a Great Circle Route distance from Sonoma County CA airport (KSTS) to Lubec Municipal Airport, ME (65B) at 2,861.988 statute miles :p:rofl:

You're right, road miles would have been better :)

I would not do this. Spending nearly 10% of the msrp or a weeklong cannon ball run doesn’t seem worth it on a Tacoma.

you should have some better luck in Arizona when it comes to not paying markup. And it’s only a state and a 5-10hr drive away

I have done it once for the perfect car and I would do it all over again.

Yup having the truck weighed is some archaic law still hanging around from when trucks were really trucks. Hard part now is finding a place to have a pick-up truck weighed. I've had the best luck with large moving companies who have a scale to weigh the contents of moving vans.

It was actually pretty painless. I found a truck stop that offers weighmasters certs 5 minutes and 13 bucks. I did see on the county website that movers offered the service as well but the truck stop was closer to my work. Hopefully DMV will be satisfied and send me the registration already! I would really like to switch financing and get this bad boy under my insurance asap.

thanks guys for all the input. will consider looking for a transport that's cheaper and if doesn't work then would do that close to 3000 mile road trip. as for the miles I did a google map from the dealer to my place.

Check out auto shipping group. Just had my Lunar rock TRD Pro shipped over 1600 miles to my door for 1400 bucks. Dealt with a guy named Adam very helpful.
It was open trailer but I’m pretty sure that’s how they get delivered to the steelership.

My vote is road trip too, driven cross country three times and really enjoyed it. Your results may vary.

I'd road trip it if I had the time. I've done that when buying 4 vehicles and every one created stories to tell...some wilder than others. I sold two trucks where guys flew in, handed over a check, and drove home across the country. I've also shipped. Driving is much more fun, if you have the time.

What dealer is it? Maybe someone here has more input on them since you will be making a 6 hour flight

Most steel yards have public scales as well. Last time I had a car weighed it was less than $15
