I think a few guys have built these before. I havent seen too many though so I am planning on building a rack and RTT lift system in the next month or so. Ill try to document the plans if others want to do the same.

Im going to use electric linear actuators.

With this setup I can keep the RTT down low to avoid wind and bug splatter and raise it when I get where Im going. Or raise if I just want more room in the bed of my truck. When its down will will serve to secure the bed items from theft too.

Cool, scissor lift style? Are you gonna sleep in it when it's all the way up?

Latest update. Buy metal tomorrow, hopefully start welding this week.

Should be interesting. Guesstimating the weight to be over 300lbs with RTT.

Depends how this one comes out.

I couldnt figure out if I wanted it mounted with the ladder on the left, right or back, so just decided to make it all the above.

And it will lower to get out of the bug splatter and wind, and will secure down the load.

Not to knock your design, but have you taken into account the load that you have to raise and lower and what the moment arm of the top platform is going to be with the RTT and ocuppant(s)? I don't see that working very well without adding in some massive gussets to both top and bottom frames. Does your 3D modeling software have FEA? This is a case where that could prove very useful.

Yup yup. What you see here is mostly concept, a cute video, not all the nuts and bolts of the entire design. If anything it will be overbuilt once complete.

Dont plan on moving it with people inside though. Once you get it where you want it will be fastened in place to make it stable. If its a rockin dont bother knockin.

    That’s a great concept!

Reminds me of the mini trucks with the dancing beds.

The bros will not approve. The RTT is a status symbol that must be on full display at all times. LOWERING it reduces the attention whore factor by at least 65%, not cool...BRO.

Making good progress Doing some weird position welding and heard my truck start up. Didnt even know it has auto start stock. Must have smashed the buttons of the remote in my pocket. Crazy.

hope to have this rack done by the weekend.
