I'd go for one also, I'm actually a really big fan of the F150 hybrid, at least on paper. You get the 3.5L ecoboost engine but also the big battery pack so you have an effective 7.5 kW generator on board! I'm not 100% sure it's a plug in though, might just be a regular ole gas/electric hybrid...

Yes! That's a huge factor in what I buy next, because I want an F150, like them, and want a generator. But, the generator is overkill (probably) for what I need. We'll see - but that's definitely a selling point.

They make smaller versions of the generator. The 7.5 kW is just the biggest option.

If I am getting a generator in the truck I'm going with the biggest, just don't know if it even makes sense. Up here at least, it would only need to power a refrigerator and the hvac controls - natrual gas provides the heat source, would just need to run the pump and thermostat. And a fridge. We're in a good spot for losing power, we don't often and when we do, it's short. If we moved south to Texas like we're thinking, changes things but realistically - shouldn't change too much. But if I get a truck with the generator, why wouldn't I just get the big boy anyway.

The Rav4 Prime is a plug in Hybrid, so far we love it. I figure on electric it costs under 2 bucks for 35 miles or so, or 1 gallon of gas for about the same in hybrid mode. Wife’s work round trip is like 12 miles, so it’s perfect for that. And if we need to go somewhere further than the 40 to 50 mile range, it just uses gas. Win win in my mind.

now these little trucks, do they meet the safety requirements of vehicles their age? And it pretty dumb to ban those small vehicles while every one is preaching use less gas, care for the environment. And I’d put money that the automakers lobbies are pushing these bans.

Exactly! I have a big generator for the house, I want it for camping. Lots of places have generator hours, regardless of how quiet the generator is. I get it, they're disruptive especially since people camping at a place without hook ups generally don't want to hear that all day. But it'd be sweet to hook up to the truck's battery pack if needed and not have to worry about Ranger Danger coming around and giving me a talking to.

I don't see that happening - it's such a small scene, they have much bigger fish to try to get rid of to push other vehicles instead.

I figure a small one can get the house going enough, I don't need the whole house if the power is out. Heat, fridge, likely what I would need should the power go kaput. And even at that, I'm looking at potentially a wood stove, though I might avoid that. This year's firewood haul is mediocre at best. With a wood stove could heat the house for like 2 days max. we just use the open fireplace for the fun of it, and a workout for me splitting it. Ah well, there's still some time this year to collect some but I never had the time to this summer as intended.

I'm off on some tangent anyway. I don't use them camping, but would be nice to do a two birds one stone sort of thing if it makes sense/works out.

FINALLY got the new suspension put in. Nothing exotic - 5100s, 885s, Dakars. 22.5" hub to fender up front, 25" hub to fender in rear, which should put me where I want to be after winch and armor.

I will be making a detour to frame plating next, though. Sigh.

So I get a call this afternoon.... My lost bumper from like 6 weeks ago was found! They are going to deliver it Monday, tried today but they were late and it's Friday and I didn't know they were coming. Warfab called me shortly after to confirm not to accept it unless it's in mint condition. The replacement should ship soon if needed.
So my faith in people is somewhat restored but whoever dropped the ball on this one took the wind out of my sails for this project.
Can't say enough good on Warfab and the shipping company can suck a nut.

Honestly just reject it back to warfab. Who knows what might be bent or something that you can't see. If it was me I'd just reject it and send it back to thek, let them do an inspection toale sure it's all on the up and up and if it is then they can resell it easy. Obviously let them know what you're doing ahead of time.

This is the route I'd go, especially if you know the replacement is on deck ready to go. Who knows what the bumpers been through

I like the super cab, only because you can't get the console on the regular cab.

    Ahhh!

The supper crew is probably the most practical for hauling passengers. I have never seen one, but I'd like to have a XL super cab 5.0, or 3.5 4x4 FX4, with the payload pkg, heavy tow package ext range fuel tank, bucket seats with the consoel. In stone gray.

I don't know if the super duty shares the same cab or not. I did see the 22 SD is available with a winch from the factory. Which may have been an option before.
