Haha... a Civic I use to have, took it in for its second oil change at 12k and the guy recommended a "safety check" for $79.99. I laughed. Went home, asked wife if she would have paid it and she said yes. Thinking back, the waiting room was filled with women.

They don't, but because of the situation where a tech originally messed up the transmission by improper refilling it, the service managers going in tomorrow with me there to take it apart. I'd go to Estabrook if I was you.

I think you’re in for some disappointment tomorrow. Just getting the tranny OFF THE TRUCK takes a few hours.

Looking forward to an update tomorrow.

So OP claims they didn’t do the fluid change. Then all the sudden he has a tranny problem due to low fluid? Did I gather that right?

A lot of dealers don’t have the machine. Some have a siphon pump. Usually I believe they do it from the over fill plug. I would of slowly opened the drain plug and let a few drops hit a paper towel to check the color or something before trying to claim nothing was done.

    Maybe...
My doubt mainly comes from having the rebuild parts on hand. Say if the valve body is pooched(if they're that thorough)... There's a lot of stuff in there; inspecting the bores, flow test, plungers fubarred, solenoid teardown/inspection, etc.

I do wish you the best of luck.

    Stalk much?

While I’ll agree he doesn’t look like a tech, at the same times he’s not suppose to. Guy could of worked his way up from being a tech, you don’t know anyone’s background.

I hope they make it right for the OP but my guess is replace the mount, if it is actually broken, check fluid level and test drive.

I can’t wrap my head around low fluid breaking a transmission mount but I guess anything is possible. Very curious to hear the outcome.

I've also been a customer of the same dealer for several years so I have seen and talked to the guy before. But, you are correct, looks and initial impressions are not always correct. I'm pretty sure he used to be a service writer.

He was the one I talked too but it's a old gentleman I'm assuming lead service tech/old guy that knew what he was talking about

Usually it’s a service writer that moves on to become a service manager. Service writers understand how RO’s, and PO’s work, warranty claims and already have customer service experience. Plus they know common issues and know how the manufacturers process works. Most actual techs usually want nothing to do with any of that. But there are a few who do jump into a service writer spot after being sick of wrenching and beating their bodies up. Then they really know what’s going on and can easily become a service manager if given the opportunity.

It is always possible the dealers is completely lying. Who knows what they really did, why it was there 3 days, how they broke a mount.

Not that this is the case, but I have seen body shops fixing a car from an accident wreck that same car while on the lot. They fix that damage with the original damage and never tell the customer. Shit happens.

My Svc manager said most Toyota dealerships including themselves do not do any major trans repair/rebuild work on site as they are sealed units. They are not provided tech support / parts from Toyota . They simply aren’t available through their service network . They either send them out locally for rebuild, or replace with reman/new.
Maybe your dealer is different. Or maybe my svc guy was just showing off…. I can only tell you what I was told when I asked.

I also agree with the guys here .
I can see the service writer making an attempt to fix the problem , but dealerships no longer work on transmission internals other than the odd solenoid should you be that lucky . Countless members here at Tacoma World and I mean countless members paid for a replacement transmission that could have easily been repaired with a $200 dollar part from the bottom by dropping the valve body . Dealerships do not drop valve bodies anymore . I have yet to hear of a dealership that does .
Dealership technicians are capable of doing the repairs to the transmission but its Toyota who calls the shots . Toyota tells the technicians to replace the transmission rather than go into the transmission and replace that $200 dollar part . Last time I looked , a fresh A750E transmission for a 4x4 was close to $4000 bucks .
Labor time guide shows 27.6 hours to remove, completely disassemble, clean, rebuild, and reinstall your transmission. That is just the labor not including the parts needed to fix the transmission and that doesnt include the new transmission fluid .
Thats when members start screaming at me in search of some help $$$$$$ . I have walked a lot of guys through valve body repairs on this site .

Now if the service writer was smart ,he would warranty your transmission for a new replacement as a corrective action .Its easy for him to write up a replacement transmission rather than trying to fix a transmission that ran low on fluid
Whatever damage was done inside the transmission may be fixable by dropping the valve body , but it may also be a band aid fix .
I highly suggest getting something in writing stipulating what kind of warranty you will be getting after the attempted repair is made .
Also hoping whatever is done works out for you . Got my fingers crossed as well.
If I had to guess at this one , I believe there are issues with your SLT solenoid either being plugged with contamination or you are still very very low on fluid . Mounts seldom break .
    http://bluegrasstoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/a750e_shudder.pdf
I think this is one of the worst scenarios I have seen since I have been at Taco World

    Good Post GC.
As someone that rebuilt transmissions for decades it became a lost art.
IMHO it was all about the turnover. I could make the shop a lot more money by replacing it
Than spending all the time rebuilding. Plus cost of individual parts that can’t be seen until
Disassembly and then the time is lost. Then reassembled to send back. Seemed like overnight
    We couldn’t get overhauling parts.
