I sold my Tacoma and thought I was going to end up in a Tundra. I love how they drive, but with the current market it made no sense to buy one. Gas in Commiefornia is $4.15+ and Tundra’s get 12-16mpg at almost all times.

This is what I ended up with and no regrets. Just giving options!

What was the weight of your stock truck? Curious on the rear weight.

Anyone just can’t deal with the Tundra size ever consider an imported Hilux or Land Cruiser?

I may go this route in a couple years. One of the OG’s on this site purchased this very 1990 LC.

Considered going Tundra this time around prior to purchasing my 2021 Tacoma access cab. Currently the Tacoma fits my needs however buying a Tundra still weighs on my mind. Unfortunately I'm mid career-shift and I'll need that to settle before I make any decisions.

Does anyone happen to have first hand experiences with the rear leg room of a double cab Tacoma vs a double cab (not crew) Tundra? Something tells me my dealer won't be getting any Tundras in for a very long time for me to test the two out. I know it's within inches but any info I can get is good info.

I had a dc taco and now have a dc tundra. My pilot buddies have ridden in the back of both (one is 6’2”). I used to get a lot of ‘are we there yet’ in the Tacoma and bitching about knee and head room. I have zero whining in the dc Tundra. Im sure all the measurements are online but the truck being taller, wider, and slightly longer helps a lot.
If you need taxi-service space then the crew cabs the better choice. I needed the bed space more than the cab space though.

Edit, found photos of both of mine..

Surprisingly enough it looks like a significant difference despite what I can find on it only being 2-3 inches. Taller is a huge bonus too. I won't taxi people around often but even in the access cab Taco we make it work, I would just like more power, more towing, more space. As the career change takes effect I may just consider paying down the Tacoma and bringing a mid 2010s Tundra into the mix. Something fun, something comfy.

Interesting that seem way high. 3380 front is more than my fully loaded truck. Interesting on the rear.

I was little surprised with the front being that heavy as well.

Yah that def seems off if it’s a stock Tacoma when it was weighed unless you had 4 adults in the cab. I’m around 32-3300 weight up front. Full plate bumper, 12k winch, 1/4” plate skids and myself etc.

I’ve been trying to get the rear weight but seems like everyone is all over. 2000 seems to be the average and need to order a custom leaf pack. I ordered already but hesitation it will be too beefie.

It was just me and my wife in the truck with a full tank of fuel. Not sure how the long bed (8') figures into it.

Old thread, but I've pondered upgrading to the Tundra a few times over the past couple weeks. The extra space, towing capabilities, and power would be nice. However, for what I do 90% of the time the Tacoma covers it and fits in my garage.

Also, with the Tundra redesign inventory is scarce now. I would like to see the 2022 Tundra in person when it's released though.

I’m in the market for a full size… the whole kids and dog thing. Hoping the 2022 Tundras impress me. If not I’ll have to look at other brands. I’ll miss my Tacoma though. I’ve had a Tacoma in my garage for the past 20+ years.

I still have my Tacoma but scored a 2019 DCLB Tundra and love it. The Carista was able to de-nanny everything I needed so no "ragrets".

    None needed.
This Tacoma has been my favorite vehicle of all time (with the exception of my 67' 400 4sp Firebird). I love everything about it- except for interior space. If Tundra looked like a larger version of the Tacoma and offered a 6 foot bed with Crew Max, I would have bought the Tundra instead. Now the Tundra looks better (it's the front bumper on full sized trucks, they always look like there dragging the ground unless it's lifted) and it's offered in Crew Max with 6.5 foot bed. Yes, I want to trading my beloved Inferno DCLB Off Road with P&T for the 2022 Tundra. Now the problem will be price! A Crew Max Limited, Long bed with Off Road package will be $60,400 with delivery. That's exactly $24,000 more than I paid for my Tacoma new. I'll have to see how moved I am by the new Tundra when it arrives.

First Tacoma was a 2009 sport and I loved it after sinking about $15k into upgrades. Then moved on to a 2018 Tundra crew max and loved it until the new wore off and found it to be too big of a truck for my needs. Now I'm in a 2020 Tacoma TRD OR and it's staying with me. I just love the way the Tacoma's drive and handle on/off road compare to a full size truck and I don't have a use for one. Also, just got done borrowing my dad's 2019 Platinum Tundra while my Taco was getting lifted and it reminded me why I traded mine in. LOL
