    Hello everyone,

My front skid plate on my 2nd gen was coated with something prior to me buying it. It is now fading/chipped. Any recommendations on what to re coat it with?

You can see it clearly on my profile. All TRD models have it from what it seems.

The stock finish on the TRD skid plate most likely a light gray powdercoat with a rough texture.

If the prev owner coated yours with something else, then just find a matching color to touch it up. There aren't any paints that are as strong as actual powder coat, so it's really not worth trying to find a product that is any better than the underlying powder coat.

Would having the powder coat re done be worth it?

you can buy a new skid plate cheaper than you can have powder coating done, or re-done. At least the powder coat services around here are just not cheap.

Is yours faded down to bare aluminum? Or is the factory gray finish still there?

    Strip it, rattle can it.

Consider a Hi-Viz yellow for the color.

His profile pic shows it looks like the previous owner used bedliner or linex on it. Or at least black paint. If so get some Rustoleum Bed Liner or black spray paint and repaint it Showing a picture of a stock colored skid plate helps nobody help you.

No. They're pretty cheap & its just gonna rub off again. I'd leave it or invest in something that's worth the money.
