    Hello TW,

I spent the weekend wiring a pair of ditch lights and a 42" light bars. Like many new Taco owners, I have a few questions on wiring. After reading many posts and watched many Youtube videos. I will share what I did to my Taco and hopefully it help those who want to add some lights to their Taco truck.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible to any damage of wiring mistakes, you're doing this at you own risk. Also like to thank those forum members who take their time to post pic, answer questions i.e, Blackbreed, moe2o4, Caribe makaira to name a few.

Most common question is how to wire the harness button (3-wire) to OEM style button (4-wire), the best way is to use a Digital Voltmeter (DVM) to find out what each wire does, the black wire inside the button is only for the indicator light (inside the Switch) grounding.

You don't want to just go by wire color only, it can have different color depends on harness maker, make connection by wire color only can blow fuse and create more confusion, most common color seems to be White, Blue and Black.

Here is a diagram for a "standard" purchased harness:

Here is a diagram on my modified wiring to test on single OEM style button, ditch lights. I've seems some suggested to crimp Red1 and Red2 together which works, but the button will only lights up when the button is pushed in.

Here is the final diagram on my 2x different harnesses that connected to a dual switch. I chose to run a Add-a-fuse and tap the ignition on 12V (20A Washer). The standard wiring will let you turn on the lights even if the truck is not running.

    Installed Dual switch:

    I hope this helps.
