So I bought my truck with it being regeared (not sure what too) and it’s been having some rear diff grinding noises with silvery fluid. I’ve been looking at what to do online but most of the forums are for stock gearing. I am thinking I should just tear into it and open up the third member and see how everything looks. Is there any advice y’all can give me on what to look for that could be causing excessive wear, and if I need to replace anything would that mean I would have to replace my air lockers as well. Diffs confuse the hell out of me. So many gears and bearings and everything has to be perfect. What I’m hoping for is that I can open it up replace a bearing if it’s bad and go about my day but idk.

Take to a gear specialist if you’re not familiar with working on 3rd members.

    I would open it up!
Yea if they didn’t shim it right and do the chalk/paint test. You could be chewing it up
