Just traded in my 2003 which I bought brand new for a 2021 which I also bought brand new. Figured after 20 years it was time to treat myself to an upgrade. The 2003 never had work done to it. Just routine maintenance. Everything was still working when I traded it in a week ago…. Here’s a pic of the old one and new one…

Well, I can tell you this -- I took it up there on Saturday week before last. Keep in mind this truck was a 2003. It only had 122,000 miles on it (I don't have much of a commute) and was pristine. They gave me $5,000 for it on trade (paid $25k 20 years back). They put it on the lot two days later (Monday) with a $12,999 sticker on it and it had a sold sign later on that day. I am sure they didn't get $12k for it, but I am sure they also got more than $5k for it. Sold the day they put it on the lot...amazing.

Wow. That’s crazy. How come you didn’t sell it private party?

    A few reasons…
    1. I’ve never done before that as it has seemed like more trouble than it’s been worth for the cars I’ve traded in. This may sound bad but I don’t even know what all is involved in doing it.
    2. I was honestly thinking I’d get 1500 tops for this truck. No idea it could possible go for this much money. Even with that still too lazy to mess with it. :)
    3. This all happened very fast. Got a wild notion to start looking, called a contact at a Toyota dealer in Louisville and figured it would take months to get something in stock. Got a call two days later telling me this one came in. I went down and bought it immediately.
I was happy with what they gave me, they were happy with they sold it for, and I got a new truck out of the deal. Everyone wins!

1500 for an 02 with 122k miles. I would have paid that.....LOL. But you could have got like 9 private party. That’s good though. As long as you’re happy!
