You should be able to stream fine at 100 MB/s. Hmmm…

I wonder if it’s simply a matter of HBO’s servers getting hammered.

One of the many things I read regarding this issue is a possible buffer issue on TVs. Not sure if that is a real possibility or not. The "fix" given was to unplug the TV first. I do that now and it seems to work most of the time.

Also, I rewatched Dune the other night as well. Can't wait for the new one!

Have you tried uninstalling it then reinstalling? Sometimes an update doesn’t go through or some other ghost in the machine pops up..

I have super slow DSL and HBO+ works fine for me on a cheepish TCL Roku TV.

I would pick up a Roku streaming stick for $30 and try that. If it works fine you know it's the TV.

If it doesn't help, return it.

All of our TVs are "Smart" TVs with built-in apps (a Sony with Google/Android TV, an LG with WebOS, and a Visio with SmartCast).

I have a Roku on every one of them because it's so much better than the built-in versions.

@916carl Amazon has the 4k streaming stick right now for $29.

Solid suggestion. My Roku is screaming fast - much faster than my “smart” TV.

Dune premiered at the Venice film festival. Review in the NY Times today, behind a paywall, otherwise I'd post a link. A properly cropped image of the picture that accompanied the article is the best I can do.

IGN gives it a solid ,"Meh."

    From IGN-
    Verdict
Denis Villeneuve’s Dune is beautiful to behold, a faithful adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novel. Or of its first half, that is. And therein lies the problem that the film faces, for in cutting this story into two parts, Villeneuve has front-loaded Dune with a lot of set-up and no obvious way to end things… and so it lingers, and eventually overstays its welcome. This is a technically brilliant, visually amazing movie with a top-notch cast and deep sci-fi concepts. A shame, then, that it feels like a drag in its back half.

OK, this sounds like epic middle-eastern sci-fi. If the movie fits, we have a winner.

I'm going to cry in my beer because it doesn't live up to the hype. To soon?
