Truck is a 2019 SR5 with about 15k miles on it.

Anyone else have this issue? This amount of condensation was after driving for about an hour. Florida Summer. The drain line isn’t clogged. Leaves a huge puddle on the ground. I rigged this “ramp” for this leaky turd so the water doesn’t run below the mat before I am able to take the truck in.

Wondering if this is another “normal” aspect to this truck.

And no, this has nothing to do with the cowling / rain.

I recall seeing a few posts about "leaks" on both the driver and passenger side. Search out posts by 45longcolt, pinochle, etc and the "Weird AC problems and water on floor" thread. Good luck!

I have a thread going about this on my 2020 sport. After a few visits with no luck, dealer has Toyota rep scheduled for next Wednesday to review the problem. My hunch is that the low pressure refrigerant line that feeds the evaporator core is sweating but Toyota will not admit this yet.

Gotcha. I’m sure you’ll report back your findings. I’d rather not waste my time at the dealership if there’s nothing they can/will do. As for now I have it to where it ends up on top of the all weather mat. Annoying but not detrimental.

Only reason I am spending the time on this is due to the electronics behind the glovebox that are getting wet.

I just got mine fixed today. I had the same problem water leaking on the carpet. I replaced the condenser 305.00 dollars. I got tired of the smell inside my truck.

I figure a lot of Tacoma’s have this issue, if it wasn’t for the all weather mats I wouldn’t have noticed it until it began to smell.

I have the same problem ! Taken it to dealer 3 times to be fixed, in addition to just stopping by 2 times for managers to witness this!
Basically it's some kind of design flaws that Toyota is not willing to own up for a recall because it's not killing anyone yet! Lol. But I'm bringing up a possibility of mold issues now, which we all know is a major issue these days hoping they will take it more seriously!
It's the outside HVAC BOX that sweats under certain humid conditions, it's hard to replicate by just idling or shirt trips around town, but when driven a steady highway speed for like an hour or so, as I do to go to work, it will start dripping as soon as I slow down for traffic or stop! I have filed a case w/ Toyota headquarters and they have determined this is just a characteristics of this vehicle! Lol. But the case is moving up the chain of command and hasn't been resolved yet! Bought vehicle in 11/3/20 so it didn't start doing it till around 6/1/21 ,when it started getting humid! I'm not going to accept it is normal for someone to have water leaking on their feet in a brand new vehicle! Never seen this before except if it was a outside seal leak or heater core bad! Probably if they don't come of w/ a fix soon, will pursue lemon law and go from there!

Awesome. Let us know how it plays out. Living in Florida, the humidity is basically an everyday thing for me. As can be seen in my picture, at least I am able to keep nearly all of the drip off the carpet.

Hello, did you or anyone else on here come to any conclusion to the water dripping from AC onto the inside floor of truck? Seen a few threads on here where other people have same issue! Toyota of course is denying everything w/ me but just wondering what dealers and Toyota is telling other people? I have had to resort to the lemon law but that is a process that's gonna take some time!

Lemon Laws are not helpful for a A/C system operating as designed. The ducts are not insulated so they will develop condensate if the humidity is high inside the truck when the A/C is running. Eventually it will stop, assuming the humidity/dew point of the air in the cab rises above the air temp.

Thanks for some more input on possible reasons why water drips inside of of my truck, all info is helpful! But am somewhat knowledgeable on the concept on how AC works, warm air meets cold air means condensation, but it's never suppose to constantly be dripping inside a vehicle on the carpet where constant wetness on carpet inevitably leads to mold, which can lead to, depending on your immune system ,a whole lot of health issues! I'm 59 and driven and rode on vehicles my whole life and I have never seen or has anyone else I know ever had water dripping inside a vehicle! Also, the problem doest go away as soon as humidity inside of truck subsides, actually the farther you drive it in humid conditions the more the outside of the heater or HVAC box sweats then drips on the inside of truck! I might be wrong, but I think all heater box's and or HVAC box's are inside of vehicle's, but do not leak water on the floor! This is a design flaw that Toyota is aware of, but would cost them more money for a recall then to deal w/ a few people thats not going to accept that's its normal for a person who is riding on the passenger side,to get their shoes or feet wet on a trip! I think this is happening to alot of Tacoma owners but either they don't notice it or just have accepted a wet floor!

    Many!
I had this issue and apparently my dealer was familiar with it so I suspect there is more to the story. They told me that it happens when you run your AC without the recirculate button on. It's pulling in fresh, humid air that gets dehumidified in the AC creating condensation. They suggested that I leave the recirculate setting on because it will recirculate air in the cabin that has already been dehumidified. I have been doing this since they told me and haven't had anymore dripping inside. I live in south Louisiana so I know humidity! As I said, there may be more to this because I've never had a vehicle do this before.

Dealer tried to tell me the same thing, so the dealer has to get w/ Toyota headquarters about issues people are having and that's what Toyota headquarters is telling dealers to tell us! So sounds like they are well aware of this issue , but just tells everyone this is normal! Auto climate control turns the recirculate on and off automatically, depending on what temp you have it on, I guess when the light is on the recirculating button is on, so I tried turning it off,, but water still drips in my truck, especially in the morning going to work, I'm a commuter and drive around 120 miles to & foe! I guess the morning air is more humid, but it has done it on the way home too! Not so much when driving, just when I slow down or stop it starts dripping, passenger side get soaked pretty good sometimes! This has never happened in any other vehicle I've ever owned! What about water getting on all them wires and possibility of mold issues? Toyota needs to man up and admit this is an issue and come up w/ a fix before wires short out and catch someones vehicle on fire or die from mold spores being breathed in daily in a tight enclosed area such as a vehicles! Has anyone else been told by Toyota headquarters that this is just the characteristics of this vehicle? I never seen the option of automatic mat and carpet wash on the sticker when I purchased the truck!

I am having the exact same issue. Like the previous poster, I commute about 50 miles one way. On real humid and warm Memphis days, by the time I’m to work there is water on the passenger floor mat. One thing I noticed is that it seems to drain a ton of water out of the AC drain once the vehicle is stopped. I have suspected it might be collecting water in places that isn’t draining well until the vehicle is stopped. I did confirm the drain wasn’t blocked.
I also added the tube to prevent the water from dripping on the frame, thinking perhaps there was positive pressure keeping the water from coming out of the drain…to no avail.
I replaced the filter and didn’t notice any water present under or around the cabin filter.
I’ve also played with the recirc and it doesn’t matter. This issue exists when the AC is on.
Dealer took the could not duplicate route. I really can’t see where the water is coming from and it seems to be dripping from several different locations but all under the passenger dash.
Very frustrated with this at the moment and even considering getting ride of the truck because of it.
PS - it didn’t start doing this until late last fall.

Same issue w/ mine, it's the outside of HVAC BOX SWEATING! Design flaw by Toyota!Take the lemon law route, depending on what state you live in their is a criteria that has to be met 1ST, like have taken it to dealer @ least 3 times to give them a chance to fix problems. Their are law firms that specialize in lemon law, no charge unless you win but attorney fees are part of settlement ask for in the lawsuit if you prevail!
