Hey All! I'm moving down to Florida and want to keep my third gen looking good. What kinds of protection from the sun do you suggest? Looking for possible suggestions like a good cover that won't cause abrasions to the paint if some wind rolls in, a good wax, or even a good wrap/ceramic coat that might stave off some sun fade. I'm not super knowledgeable about detailing work so any and all information you can give me is valuable! I've already done some generic searching but would like to hear some real world experience with our trucks. Are there any other considerations I should make for Florida vehicle care?

    Thanks in advance!

And PS: Before someone makes a wise crack about it being a truck and all that, the reason I ask the question is because I value my pocket and want to keep my taco in overall great condition.

Drive only when it is cloudy.

Keep in a garage. Drive on cloudy days or at night. Don't drive in rain or hurricanes. Evacuate when a hurricane is approaching.

FWIW, you can't protect it from the elements of nature. Just keep it clean and wax it several times a year.

All covers will scratch paint if your car isn't totally clean and just washed. Best protection for the paint is either a good wax, sealant or ceramic coated. Make sure to coat the plastics so they don't fade. As far as the interior get sun visor and youll be fine. If I had to park outside I would probably use a sealant and re apply every other month or so

Thanks for the info. Wasn't too sure on covers. Had a feeling that any dirt or debris missed/not cleaned would cause abrasions in the paint. I'll stick with wash/wax often and park in as much shade as possible. Easy enough!

I've lived in Jersey all my life and I'm super excited to trade salt care for sun care.

I was going to make a wise ass comment about buying a 4x4 OR model and being worried about the sun. But then I just read your last post about being from New Jersey and that's bad enough, so I'll cut you some slack.

The sun is the same in New Jersey as Florida. Seriously. Same distance too.
Lol I just googled % sunny days by state and found New Jersey averages 57% sunny days and Florida averages 66% sunny days. That is not a big deal at less than 10%.

The sun might be basically the same distance but sunlight is filtered by the atmosphere more in New Jersey than in Florida due to the angle of the sun to overhead. So the effects of sunlight are indeed different.
