This is my third Tacoma. I had a 2015,2018, and now 2021. All were 4 door long box trd sports but the latest one is a Premier edition. The 2015 was great. The 4 Litre 4 speed auto was never a problem. When I first received the 2018 it had a lag in the power when accelerating on Highway on ramps. Also seemed to be lugging at city speeds in Drive. I checked and there was an updated emissions program to fix the hesitation, it did work. Also I just went into S mode and drove in 4th in the city at 30 mph. My new truck seems to have all the same symptoms. I was hoping they would have fixed this issue after 6 years with the 3.5 and 6 speed.
Does anyone know the current emissions program, and any Bulletins on the lugging/surging issue. I only have about 1800 km but this seems worse than my 2018.
I know these trucks will "learn" your driving habits and adjust but it is upsetting on a 50,000 C Dollar truck.
    Thsnks for any help.

once you hit 1200 miles it really opens up the throttle input. mine would struggle to get above 3k rpm even with full throttle before i hit the 1200 mile mark. it was like a switch flipped and felt completely different once I crossed 1200...wonder if they have some sort of break-in tune coded into the ECU
