I voted "ptarmigan".
Not to a wise guy (honest!).

Grouse are basically ptarmigans who said fuck this and moved south.
They retain the pectinations on their feet that serve rather like snowshoes.

Delicate white breast meat with a nutty flavor (cuz of what they eat).

I had to work hard for every one I managed to shoot, which also factored into my vote.
Supposedly, Ruffed Grouse and Spruce Grouse up in Canada show little fear of people.
That's not the case here.
