What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Got some Cooper Rugged Treks put on today. Super quiet so far with the few miles I've put on.

 

Finally got around to installing the @MESO Sunroof Hexrack today:

 

Added the faux pro grille with the ever so controversial “raptor” lights.

also installed some faux TRD rims with Cooper S4s.


decided not to go with the TRD caps… for now. I don’t like a ton of badges, etc.

I am on the fence about the amber LEDs in the grill - so I hit them with some Plasti Dip. They’re still gonna shine when I turn on my low beams but won’t be as obvious otherwise. I really wish I could wire them to the fog fuse, but they just stay on, and I’m not really wanting to tap into any wiring just yet.

 

Did a test fit today with a 285/70 on my Summit Dakar’s. Definitely going to have to bump up my 6112s and do some trimming before they go on.

 

Normally on the 2nd gen the 5100 can yield 2.5" of lift. But the AAL are designed to be used with the 3" front lift. So it would actually level out the truck.

 

what wheels are those?? I’ve seen them on a couple trucks and LOVE THEM. They look like enkei’s

Summit Dakar’s. Specs are 17x9 w/ -25 offset. Only weigh in at 23lbs.

Was your experience in installing this a PITA like mine was? No complaining about it functionality, but good grief, what a headache it seems.

 

Man, let me tell you it did not go as easily as the video made it seem.

To your point, not complaining at all about the end result, but popping the jack nuts and ensuring they were flat/centered...wew lad. Then, of course, working upside down was the icing on the cake. Happy it's done, and it turned out amazing.

 

Agreed on the jack nuts. I've had mine in for about 3 months now. But lordy lordy!! @MESO install vid makes it so simple and straightforward.

My honest biggest gripe was remount the light bacj into housing. The box the connectors set in kept popping out. Jury rigged it so it worked. But again, lordy lordy!

 

Ok. So even though the rear shock is capable of an additional 1", it would just compress that 1" without the AAL. Is that right?

Oh man, sounds like you had it worse than me then. My light was not easy but after a decent amount of pressing and pulling it eventually snapped in.

 

So I just got my tacoma about a week ago, I ordered a bunch of stuff for it and it's slowly trickled in. Yesterday I picked up front and rear shocks and during the install today I decided to just do the upper control arms and add a leaf pack. (Had those delivered to the shop by my wife) lol. So here goes the suspension portion. If you interested you can follow my build and my previous one @Ridgeline

 

Basically. But it would give you 1" of downtravel

 

Thank you! Kinda just winged it after asking questions to everyone about taking apart the dash. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. The whole ordeal took maybe an hour.
