I took the quad out to check our property for damage this morning. We seemed to have faired well - a few small branches down but nothing major. Water levels are up but nothing is overflowing.

Looking back up at our house from the big pond.

Well it looks like we dodged flooding for the most part. Some areas West of here are closed, but the main highways/state roads are clear. Didn't even hear the sump pump kick in last night, guess being a little higher than the houses across the street helps. Not even any flooding in the trouble spots I've come across on my commute in Maryland.

As someone who has spent many a sleepless nights blocking roads. If there is someone blocking a road, they are probably there for a good reason. That being the public’s safety. I know you like taking pictures (I enjoy your photos) But just think of how many other people have been there trying to take that photo too.
If had people tell me they have to get through “I live down there”
“Ok go around the other way”
“ there is no other way”
“ seriously how long have you lived here”
Some people are just entitled some are just dumb.
You never know what your gonna get.

In the case of the PECO guy who blocked my exit so he could tell me to leave, that was just an egotistical prick who had no authority whatsoever; The road into that neighborhood wasn’t even blocked and it was a public road so as far I’m concerned I did nothing wrong!

As for the hospital, yeah, I shouldn’t have gone back there…

    Imma echo that…

    Job security.

It boggles my mind but, Sheep will be sheep. Same applies for the photo junkies. “did you not see the barricade?” “We saw it. But we wanted pictures and the water wasn’t that high”

Cool. So you blatantly ignore something to keep you safe for a fucking picture… an unnecessary photo…and you then put not only yourself in danger, but me, my crew, the cops, medics, tow truck and everyone else who we encountered from where ever we were, to where ever you are stuck…
    *sigh* Job. Security.

It isn’t always about the height of the water but the speed. and the speed in which it rises and what you can’t see under it. It’s my least favorite of the technical rescue disciplines for that reason.

    I need sleep.

Sorry to hear. I lost my mom on August 17. We put her in the ground next to dad last Friday. We lost him in October last year, then my wife's son to that-which-shall-not-be-spoken-on-TW on Christmas Day. Tough year.

I’m sorry for your losses. Sometimes it all is just too hard to deal with, but I know we all will make it through somehow.

Good morning fellow Pennsyltuckyvanians! Welcome to the Gateway to the Weekend for those who still partake of the working thingy.

Opted not to cut the grass yesterday - way too wet. Might let it go one more day - I can still hear the water running pretty hard underground off our hill so I know there will be wet spots. I think I'll take in the recycling and focus on some smaller projects this morning. We are going to have a late lunch with some of Lynn's friends who own a house on a small lake a few miles from us.

    Be safe out there!!!

Good morning and happy Friday! Just got to work and already ready for 3:00 and the start of a vacation week! Staying around the house through the weekend then heading for the beach on Monday. OC Maryland until Friday then home and a friend from OH coming in and staying with us a few days. Back to work for 3 days then off again on the motorcycle heading for WV and meet back up with our OH friend and more Yamaha FJR1300 owners.
