I think people in my town are just confused at this point this thing has looked like a shit box all summer. Finally getting to vinyl wrapping and while I'm at it, frame and exhaust welding

Put in a new fuel filter while you can reach it, assuming you haven't upgraded the fuel delivery system.

Nah but I'll definitely be upgrading the whole drivetrain well before 100k miles. Possibly putting a new one in with twice the cylinders but we'll see

I thought 2nd gen didn't have a replaceable fuel filter and that any mesh filtration was integrated into the fuel pump?

aka "it's the fuel pump, and gets replaced when you replace a dead fuel pump"

That's what I was thinking. Only 30k on this one so I'm not worried

The fuel filter is just a sock on the pump. Each time you turn the truck off, the gunk it catches just falls back into the tank. It can get clogged over time.

Is the sock separately replaceable? Usually they aren't

Nope. I've read where some folks removed the sock and installed a replaceable in-line filter. If I ever take the bed off I'll do something like that, probably with a new pump. I have 155K plus miles on my 2012.
