Hit up Kenosha Pass this morning after camping the night before. Honestly couldn't believe I found a campsite with such spectacular views on a holiday weekend here in the US. Already scouting next weekends high alpine trip—gotta beat the snow.

@neatoneto really depends on what kind of riding you are looking for. The bike park was fun, but i prefer riding over downhill. So, if you want to pedal and see some amazing places, there’s a ton of trail out here. In Durango as well, there are 4-5 different areas, one being the end of the Colorado Trail, called Junction Creek. I’ve heard Horse Gulch is a good area to ride.

something I was eyeing, but don’t have the time this trip, was to ride up Bolam Pass Rd to Hermosa Creek Rd Double Track and then Hermosa Creek Trail. This is like a half loop, start at Purgatory and end in Hermosa, which is about 10-15 minutes from Purgatory. I think it would be a heck of a ride, with a lot of climbing but I enjoy that.

@svendough some beautiful area in those photos! WOW!!!

I recommend checking the status of the hermosa creek trail. I think the 416 fire destroyed it. If it didn’t, the trail was awesome when I rode it in 2014. Only one climb at the end and it was a bitch if I remember correctly!

I’m in the same boat which is why I asked. I don’t enjoy it unless it makes me work a little bit. Going to regret saying this when I’m at 10k+ elevation

Having ridden extensively in CO and Utah, it’s not the same. Yeah, CO is dry, but the moon dust is UT is ridiculous at times. Inches of fine talc powder can cover deep ruts.
In CO I needed to lube the chain every other or do, in UT it’s needed every ride.

Been hitting the loop now every other weekend since buying my talon and loving it. Last week we ran into an unfortunate situation, however, when we rode up on someone who likely had a stroke and was pronounced dead on the trail (near the golf course just before the tunnels). Poor guy was riding solo.

We are about to go out again this morning before our fantasy football draft and heat kick in. Thanks for all the feedback so far and the posting you guys do helps with my future purchase. Currently it’s between the Giant Fathom or the Commencal Meta HT.

@neatoneto I was able to climb to the high point within the resort, that was good stuff! But, there are a ton of videos on YouTube of the main trails if you want to see what they look like. The main lift #1 takes you to the top on one side - you start with 7th Heaven or a few blacks (I’m not that good - but Pirate is the name of one). 7th Heaven takes you to another spot where you catch Divinity (blue), Diggler (blue) or Shangri-La (green). This is also where I caught the dirt road up to the top of the backside of the mountain. But the last three trails take you back down to LIft #1.

Here’s a video of Pirate, then the WC Downhill and last Divinity - https://youtu.be/g5XNY11Q0J8

Also, make sure the park is open - I think it’s close to closing for the season soon. I don’t recall the date, but i saw it posted somewhere.

Nothing broken, but bruised up rib cage pretty bad. One of those crashes that put the fear into you :(

Kids love to ride so I’ll be keeping. Every time I drive unloaded people always asking me to buy it. Very popular rack!

Just got my QuikRStuff rack about a week ago, haven’t taken it out of the garage yet. They ran into some aluminum supply issues so it pushed back their lead times. I wanted a rack that could carry all my bikes, 29+ and fat tire bike without trouble and this rack fit that. Definitely on the higher end price wise but the older I get the more I subscribe to the “buy once, cry once” philosophy. upload_2021-9-5_12-20-3.jpgupload_2021-9-5_12-20-56.jpgupload_2021-9-5_12-21-12.jpg

My understanding is the guy that helped create 1up left and joined this company to improve on his earlier rack designs…. Someone else may be able to speak more on it than me.

Theres some weird history to the 1up/Cal Phillips, I’m not sure who is in the right.

For awhile Cal Phillips had his own website that had the back story of the split. I think there was some litigation and him trying to get his new design made.

IDK how accurate I am. But what I do know is I drank the coolaid and am picking up a Levo on Tuesday.

Love this time of year. Cooler temps, dwindling crowds, trails have that worn-in feel.
