Okay, with the Caldor Fire to my direct east and all NF closed in California, where can I do some exploring right now without having to pay the $5,000 fine?

pic is of the area just west of Maidens Grave on Hwy 88 a week ago. The area has since been burned and from what I can tell, one of the places that it crossed 88. 0FDDFEC2-0941-41F2-8C39-07244F0570FD.jpg

The not CA thing happens next July so I feel you on that answer. The coast does sound nice right now. Cooler than living here in the foothills.

In the past two weeks I've gone to Jenner and Big Sur.
There's some great kayaking/paddle boarding on the Russian River and a huge private campground, Casing Ranch.
State parks had lots of camping spots available during the week.

The Casing Ranch looks amazing. Gonna go on my list of future camping places!
