I traded a cherokee for my taco, and everytime someone makes a crack about it, I just relate the fact that toyota has the world market in trucks and will retell stories of our hilux's in Afghanistan. Normally shuts them up.

I have owned 12 American vehicles, a Honda and this truck. My truck is 10 years old now and all I have ever done so far is maintainance. Better record than the Honda even. 100% problem-free? 10 years? smartest move I ever made. It is amazing how this truck has saved me so much money. I guarantee you that MOST of Toyota buyers do it as a money move because they have been burned one too many times owning American. Hey I am a big American white boy, I wish I could own good ol' American iron once again-but the fear of cost over time holds me back.

My dad has an 03 gmc duramax crew cab. He has telescoping side mirrors that never worked, the paint on the internal controls (like a/c knobs radio and so on) that is completely rubbed off after 30k miles, and then the unbelievable cost to replace the fuel injectors ($5000+) that go out every 100k miles? sure the power train may be doing 200+ in some situations but to dump 5k every 100-150k miles along the way? do you really want to be "that guy" who has every thing that should be connected to the vehicle holding in to dear life by a few strands of duct tape? I'll pass. Quality in vehicles are more than just power train quality. My work car is a GM product. It is a 2002 but has only 60k miles and the paint is oxidized and clearcoat is pealing. My 03 acura still looks new despite a few paint chips and 118k on the odometer..

the domestic brands would be just as good if it weren't for the entitlement environment an rediculoys inefficiencies of the U.A.W.

my dakota had 118k and climbing, its was a pretty nice truck. But nothing compares to my tacomas fuel economy, build qaulity, and overall apperance... once of the guys at my work (county guy) told me he could "run" me in his f150... he was sadly mistaken but I warned him, I beat him in my dakota, and told him my yota was alot faster lol. But other than him the only shit I get is from my brother who is a mustang owner. He always says first on race day... yeah we will see when I buy that trd supercharger... and dont tell him =D

I get slack from white peeps no offense to any one. I had this white girl (pro american nothing wrong with that) tell me why didnt i buy a silverado. I told her for one the price and reliability and that the fact that the year models i was looking at was either made by mexicans or canadians. I told her i would rather buy a truck built by hard working americans in the NUMMI plant in cali and keep them in a job(even though the plant now closed) But still my fellow hard working american in san antonio have a job. I told her why does her mom drive a pontiac vibe its just a rebadged toyota matrix. She shut up after that.

Only crap I get is at work, just razzing there anyways. For a week after I got it, one of the guys thought I had bought a "Dakota." I never understood why he kept going on about how I could pay him to fix my new truck.

I was very offended, calling my truck a Dakota...Now they give me shit all the time about my "Dakota"

We hired a "Chevy" youngster at work. He tries to hustle some shit. He tries to be subtle about it but I can tell.

And after learning/experiencing a little bit about those damn F-150s some folks seem to secretly be in love with, you guys can have 'em. Hit us Taco guys up when you're down for a whole new bank of fuel injectors cause they leak or stick open/closed.

The TSB list for the 05+ Tacos vs. the 05+ F-150s. Both have some stuff, the F-150's is by far longer. HP don't mean squat when it's sittin in a shop.

i dont know about the 05+ f150's, but fuck the earlier 5.4's the goddamn spark plugs are held in by 4 fuckin threads and to fix it correctly its $4400 counting labor if you were to go to a shop.
