I am doing more hiking away from the truck and also parking on the street with a lot of gear in back, so am upgrading my OEM alarm with a glass breakage sensor for the cab.

Besides the GBS, I also want to put something in back that sets it off if someone breaks in there and was thinking of putting a switch on the tailgate and camper shell door that runs off the same wiring for the hood sensor- I could even do the same for the fuel door. of course I will have to use an override switch in case I drive with either the tailgate or camper door open. So, has anyone try adding extra switch sensors to the OEM alarm and how did it go? What other alarm options have others used for the back?

Are you thinking of installing some kind of motion sensor in there? I think there are some cameras out there that might activate upon entry. You could at least be made aware of the breaking-in via a text alert and possibly you could even talk to them through it. The camera combined with an audible alarm would turn away most I’d suspect.

Good ideas where there is cell coverage, but not practical for remote places. I was really just wanting a simple setup that would trigger the OEM alarm. A motion detector switch would work in there too- but after they got in most likely.

A doorbell? :notsure: There's a western bar in town that has door bells on the restroom doors. They also have some small cowgirl figures as a decoration on a shelf in the hallway to the restrooms. Whenever someone lifts the dresses on one of them, a loud bell goes off in the main room. You’d enjoy that bar!:rofl:

I don't think it would be too bad to get into the hood sensor and wire in a plunger for the tailgate. Wonder if the hood pin is as easy as I'm thinking it is.

Hood pin switch is very easy- I installed one for my under hood led light strip to activate when hood is raised - one hot wire to battery then ground wire makes contact and completes circuit when switch is activated

That's if you leave it open when alarm is set.

Terminal is TE 1827855, same as for the missing terminal of the SR Fog Switch circuit.
