Just cosmetic: Window Tint, radio knobs, temp control knobs, Tech-Deck, Tonneau bed cover, tail gate lock, de-chromed all badges inside and out, installed back up camera and custom bedside decals.
What is a good aftermarket remote start kit for a 2014?

Found my email, it was $80 off. For some reason I was thinking it was more.

The only thing I don't like is if you get the extended range remote your horn doesn't honk when you lock the doors.

I purchased a used 2010 and it had a Viper in it and I really don't care for it. It seems to have a hard time unlocking doors and with the keys in my pocket it sometimes does an auto-start by itself. One time I was under the dash and noticed the installation was messy and for the amount I really use it, I've been thinking about disconnecting. it.

Compustar. 1/2 mile range under normal conditions. Have had one in my 2012 for 8 years.

I didn't think range was a big deal at first. 80% of the time it's 50 feet max at my home. However the big benefit of the long range is situations at work, airports, malls, sports venues, concerts, zoos etc.
It is equally nice to start the AC up on a hot summer day 1/2 mile away and know its working to take the edge off by the time you get there.
2 way remotes to confirm lock and start-up are also important.

Had a Viper 2 way in my 2007. It was fine but that thing ATE through batteries. Like every 6 months. I now have a Compustar 2 way in my 2013 and I love it. Thing will start from a quarter mile away and I haven't had to change the batteries in going on 6 years now.

I have also had great FOB battery life performance from the compustar remotes, but would recommend pro-actively replacing batteries every 5 years. I got into a pickle 4 months ago and locked my keys in the truck. My 2nd fob had dead batteries and was of no use. The batteries between the 2-way and 1-way remotes are different so keep both battery types on hand if available.

The different battery types is my only gripe, but has no impact on my day to day use/ experience.

Thanks! That's good advice, and makes me think about being more proactive. I used to keep a pile of batteries on hand for my Viper. Now, I never even think about it for my Compustar (and I'm not even sure what batteries it takes since I've never had to replace them :anonymous:).

Coming soon - as I learn
The PO had put in an AUTOMATE (http://www.automatesecurity.com) Model 5204A. I *really* like it. While not as long range as discussed above. It does have a very good range. It is a two-way remote, it buzzes to confirm. It effectively replaces the OEM fobs, because it has LOCK/UNLOCK/AUX/START buttons.

    Taco on,

I've had a viper 5706V for years. I've only replaced the battery once in 6 years, but my fob has a rechargeable battery. No other issues with it. Remote start is pretty good.
