Hi everyone - just got my ‘21 OR last week. I was trying to configure Entune but the phone app kept giving me an error telling me to use the Toyota app. I called Toyota and was told that CarPlay has replaced Entune for apps. This didn’t seem right….anyone else have this happen?

I think anything 2020 and up, you don’t need it because of Apple Car Play and Android Auto. I could be wrong.

Not to hi-jack; but only reason I was messing around with it was the stupid nav button on the HU; says you need the app, which leads to etune and various apps to connect to get the nav app and so forth loop. I can get it connect to the truck (etune); but wortheless from there. So just been using car play for nav. Silly I know, but kinda of annoying.

I’ve used the Navigation on the HU and I didn’t get that message. I used it a few times just to try it out.

Eh sometimes. It seems like every time I try it after work, 9 out of 10 times I have issues trying to get it to work. My aftermarket radio in my 06 worked way better with Apple Car Play.

I have a 21 so maybe they worked out some bugs. A lot of times aftermarket will be better though. Was always happy with Kenwood or Alpine.

Did your vehicle come from the factory with navigation?

Apparently not. We didn't order it, just had our name on several dealers list for the next batch of arrival of Tacomas. One came in and we bought on the spot off the delivery truck. Came with most the options we wanted but never looked for the HU / Nav options. Oh well. We are happy with it and CarPlay is fine. Just figured that would be a standard feature in this day and age.

The dynamic nav isn’t too bad…but I won’t pay for it when it expires. Waze is much better IMO.

I too have a 2021. It’s just annoying because it will take a while for it to start working. Unplugging the phone, turning the radio off and on, and after a few times, it connects.

I think only the Premium Audio has the on board navigation available (Toyota calls it Dynamic Navigation ). Otherwise you get your navigation through your phone when plugged into the system and using Android Auto or Apple Car Play. Plug in your phone and wait for Android Auto or Car Play to be recognized. Once either is recognized, hit Map and it will pop up. In other words, the Map button just acts as a shortcut to your phone based map program.

See bullet point "G" on page 13. https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/omnav-s/OM04031U/pdf/OM04031U.pdf
