The Frontier looks great and I have no doubt it eclipses the Tacoma in many ways (most notably the transmission). However, as you noted, the Frontier may be relegated to relic status (again) when the redesigned Tacoma releases in two years. In the end, there's not enough there for me to seriously consider swapping into a Frontier when my lease is up on March. If I were a new truck buyer? Maybe.

I heavily considered a Ridgeline, it has great features but it just looks horrible. If Honda made them look badass I bet they would sell more

I've added stuff too, but more along the lines of what you'd call accessories to improve functionality vs. actual mods. Bakflip G2, bed lights and a BedRug bed mat, cargo net, organizers for the center console and glove box, tailgate insert letters, chrome exhaust tip...the wallet-emptying list goes on :) Last one I did just a couple of days ago was the Rav4 radio knob mod that I read about here. But nope, no cool kid bad-ass mods for me. She is and will always be a pavement queen

To the OP, gotta agree with you on the Ridgeline. For what I wanted a truck to do it was perfect. I just couldn't get past the price tag and the fact that it looked like someone said "oh shit, we forgot a pickup truck! Let's take a Pilot and cut the top off the back of it!"

I am curious about the Maverick eco boost. Not to trade in my Tacoma but maybe get it for my wife. Light weight lots of power and around 21K. They say it has a roomier interior than the ranger. Maybe because they bed is shorter.

Same here, I had most of the stereo stuff already which I have in pretty much every vehicle I drive. Then stuff like Weathertechs, delay wiper upgrade, fog lights. Buying bigger tires for instance would just reduce my MPG and not like it's gonna go offroading in the first place. Well I guess I kinda did lift it, while getting the reframe I had new shocks/struts/coils done haha.

The Ridgeline wouldn't get me in the door either..for the same reason I wouldn't buy a double cab, useless to me. My brother in law got a Ridgeline several years ago, he had looked at Tacomas and I think the Nissans but just got the best deal on that. Works for him and he picks up scrap metal in his spare time.

Only issue, it's a nissan. Their quality has gone down for the last 10 years. Maybe they've been whored out too much with all the takeovers.

Nope you're safe, doesn't count. You went OEM, it's just sittin' prettier cause they are new :)

I just seen a frontier at a dealership. Sat in the front seat 4 thumbs up. Rear seat and entry to sucks worse the gen1 Tacoma no storage behind the seat either. I can open the rear door on my gen3 and put my tool bag on the floor board no prob. I could barely get my foot and leg in the 22 frontier. Styling a plus from before but hands down for usability.

The base frontier looks a lot like a Honda too. Hard to beat Nissan reliability. I used to have a 350Z convertible. Fun car for sure.

Haha true, after almost 12 years and 117K on the originals I figured it's time. Best case I would have had another year but then I'm not getting free labour like I was now.
