I was recently vacuuming my 2017, including pulling out the plastic door sill panels. On the driver side, rear door sill, there is a wiring harness that, for some reason, has wires pulled out in one section and a butt connector on the purple wire. I accidentally pulled the wire out of the connector, so I’ll have to fix that. But can anyone think of a reason why these wires would be out like this? My truck is all stock. No electrical mods. Appreciate any thoughts here!

Looks like a T-tap and quick disconnect. Did you buy it new?

I won't get into the reason for the splice, but, as a retired electronics/electrical engineer I can tell you that that is the wrong size butt splice for that gauge of wire ..... why it came out so easily. The crimping tool was also inadequate. Whatever person did it didn't have a clue!!!

Makes you wonder what the added dealership alarm wiring looks like.
