Suspension advice...don't want chicken legs on my Tacoma

Wide body kit? Need long travel suspension to avoid chicken legs.

 

Suspension options can get overwhelming quickly and you can spend as much as your budget will allow. I do not think for your application that you will need Kings of Fox. Billistien 5100's are another good option. Just don't go with a block and spacer lift.
For tires, I HIGHLY recommend Nitto Ridge Grapplers, but you should look at BFG KO2s and Goodyear Duratracs as well. Maybe Falken Wildpeak too.

 

You don’t need fiberglass fenders to hit the trails. Those are typically installed along with a long travel suspension kit to avoid the tires rubbing on the fenders. Personally I think they look a bit silly, but I’d put up with it if I was going the long travel route.

That's just blather.

Use the truck as is. When you find something doesnt work well for you, learn how to improve it.

'Looking badass' is fine, as long as you understand that guys who are the real deal can smell a poseur across the mall.

Don't be that guy.

 

Take your truck out on some mild trails first. There are too many directions you can go as far as suspension mods.
Learn what you need to improve on the truck for the way you use it.
Just slapping a bunch of cool looking parts on the truck doesn’t equal good performance for everyone . Its not a one size fits all answer. Im sure most people on here started not knowing much, and learned as they advanced.
Asking your questions here without anyone knowing your ability, budget, etc is only going to get you a ton of different answers and opinions.
Then you end up re doing a bunch of work because you dont like the ride, the quirks, the noise etc..
Just get out there. When you first start out the truck is plenty capable as is. When its time , you will know where and what to start improving .

Go onto the wheel section, spend some time and make a list of wheels you like the look of. Lift/wheels/tires are a good start, this forum will make you lose a ton of money (I don't have a spouse or kids either so spend $$$ on my truck). Meso anything is a good call too.

looking “bad ass” is pretty subjective, most guys I know that run Kings or Fox don’t even need them.

 

I don't off-road, I wanted my truck to look bad ass. I'm almost there...need that skewp yet. I plan on getting that for Christmas gift to myself.

You sound like you like nice stuff, and you want your truck looking good. Don’t waste your time or money on low end shocks, just buy kings and be done with it, Instead of buying low end stuff and then swapping it out in a year.

Happy with my Accutune suspension, but yeah to fill out wide body flares plan on going long travel. There may be a couple wheels that will push out far enough, but you'll have to look for some with a big offset.
