    Hey All - used the search option and am reviving an old thread... thought that would be better than creating new.

    Long story short (I'll post intro in new member thread shortly) is that I recently bought an '07 2.7 4x4 and the oil pan is leaking seemingly due to rust (I'm in Vermont).

    It appears that to replace the lower pan on the 2nd gen tacoma's you do NOT need to remove the front differential. I'm curious if that goes for both the V6 and the 4Cyl?

    I got under my truck today (I have 4cyl) and it seemed like it would be a real tight fit to both get to all the bolts and actually drop the pan.

    Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance!

    On your V6 was it pretty easy to get the lower pan off (access to all the bolts and getting it off)?

    If so, I'm thinking the 4cyl isnt as lucky...as when I got under the truck it seems like it would be a really tight squeeze even if I could get to all bolts.

    I was able to access all the bolts but maneuvering the new one into place with a bead of sealant on it was tricky. First attempt failed and leaked at the gasket. Had to re-do it being more careful to not disturb the bead of sealant while maneuvering the pan into place and holding it still while bolting into place. Of course I had to re-clean the mounting surface and had to now clean the gasket off the new pan.

    Hello... I know this is an old thread but my time has come to replace the lower oil pan and I want to make sure of a few things before I start..
    Is there a specific tool I need to remove the pan once the bolts are removed?
    Is this the best product to use for sealer?

    Does the oil pan even need to be replaced? It does not look like there is anything wrong with it. Maybe clean off both sides and call it a day or buy new?
    Is 80ft#' correct for the bolts when I tighten them back up? (google is good---
    what is 80 INCH-lbs= 6.667 ftlbs)

    what is the pattern to tighten them back up?

    Stock, 4WD, Access Cab, White,
    Small bolts need low torque. 80 INCH-POUNDS, basically wrist tight with hand grasping the ratchet head. No need to gorilla arm these.

    Use a crossing pattern to tighten the bolts as a good practice. Snug up all bolts, then go around a 2nd time to final tighten.

    You need to be the judge. Is the oil pan in good condition?

    An oil pan is generally not a wear type item. Typically, an oil pan will last the life of the engine.
