I found a place nearby and am seriously thinking about it.

Does anyone know if it voids the warranty?

It can’t void the warranty if they don’t know about it. There’s no way of looking at your truck or doing the diagnostics to find out it was tuned. So in order for it to void the warranty, you’d have to tell them you had it tuned and let them make that decision, which will likely void your warranty. Hope that made sense.

Did your bed cover use existing rails to mount to? I see you have brackets that drop accessory rail down.

    Oh look, another mod....
I have a few "Single Best" improvements that I've made that make my 3rd gen better:

    1) Shock Spring Struts for the hood (The kind that DO NOT require to me drill into the hood or body. They bolt right on! I was able to install this myself in under 15 minutes.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RW9YT4S?ie=UTF8

    2) Front Seat Jackers. I'm a tall guy, so the extra leg/thigh support is very helpful. My Taco is a daily driver, and I instantly felt the improvement after I installed this mod.
    https://desertdoesit.com/products/2005-2019-toyota-tacoma-1-1-4-front-seat-spacer-lifts-front-of-seat

    3)
Sprint booster. I hated the lag when I would step on the gas pedal. I heard a lot of noise, but felt no action! This plug-n-play mod solves that problem, is easy to install, does NOT void my warranty (I can disconnect it easily before going to my local dealership) and it has actually helped my MPG's by 1.5 mpg.

What about the upcoming smog law in CA that says if your ECU doesn't match the factory setting it will fail smog automatically? That is the main reason I am holding off on an aftermarket tune for my truck (at least until they come out with a smog legal tune).

I know most of the 3rd gens are still not smog required in CA but it isn't that far off for some of the earlier models.

That’s what’s holding me back also. The shop near me said they stopped tuning for that reason

Why not tune instead of the sprint booster?

Meso Steath Shift Knob Kit. Having a 4 banger and reaching down to turn on the ECT Power button was getting old quick. Was outside last night in the driveway till midnight installing it and couldn't be happier driving around town today.

No contest, the KD Max tune @TWTaco

With the weak power and hunting transmission I was considering getting something else, this tune makes it all go away as good to drive.

    Couple things…

    1) KD Max tune has passed the “new smog” check, but no guarantee that yours will pass but “it should”.

    2) Your smog isn’t due until 8 years after you bought it, (if you purchased it new).

    3) Make sure you pay your smog abatement fees when they come up.

“New” smog rules, that you’re referring to, took effect 7/19/21.

This KD Max tuned truck’s smog check was done in 8/4.

I trust Quoc Pham and he’s pretty honest and upfront about this so I hope this helps anyone who may have questions about getting their truck a tune vs the new CA smog regulations.

Amen to that brother! For every 100 people moving out of this state, we still have 500 people moving in and more then willing to pay triple for their house and property taxes. God bless America.
