Hello everyone, just wanna say hello and get my post count up so I can start selling some parts. I received an 02 Tacoma Prerunner ext cab 4 cylinder from my aunt last August, it had its fair share of issues with over 225k miles, hence when it was just given to me. She basically couldn't pass smog due to a check engine light, misfire in cylinder 1. Long story short it had burnt valves and I rebuilt the engine and slowly added some aftermarket parts. The first aftermarket mod was a lift kit, being I didn't want to spend a lot of money (already spend quite a bit on the engine) I opted for the Bilstein 5100 series shocks and 2881 OME springs, and a 1" block at the rears. It looked pretty good and leveled. Next was a set of wheels and tires, out with the 16" steelies and in with the TRD 16" Beadlock wheels (happen to be the last set in socal at that time) wrapped with 265/75/16 Yokohama geolanders. The truck looked totally different, to the point my auntie didn't even recognize it. I took the truck to fire roads and did some light off-roading. At this point, I was hooked on modding this truck and making it more capable. I swapped over a third member with a rear locker and wired it up, thanks to the information found here at Tacomaworld. My next goal is to do the 4x4 conversion, I have most of the parts I need to do it through my parts are kind of mismatched. I found a donor truck with the vacuum-operated ADD system, which I took the front diff axles/knuckles and VSV solenoids with lines. I found a transmission with a J shifter transfer case off a 4runner. I guess my biggest dilemma, has anyone tried to hook up / wire up a front diff with vacuum-operated ADD with a J-shifter transfer case. I've looked and haven't seen much, but since I got these pieces already I might as well try to see if I could make it work.

Very simple to wire the ADD solenoids, just need to hook it up to a switch. I believe @mechanicjon can point you the right way.

I’ve done the swap on my truck so I’m happy to answer whatever questions you may have.

Do I hook it up to the transfercase switch as a trigger for the solenoids to turn on and off?

I suppose you could, that's a bit above my paygrade. I'm more familiar with manual hub conversions rather than hooking up ADD. Most people who do this conversion forego hooking up the ADD system since it's more wiring and headache, although it should be simple to hook it up in the way you wish.
