I agree. It just wouldn't make sense to be priced above a TRD model.

I almost waited for a '22 Trail but found a good deal on a used OR that I had to take. To me, the Trail (similar to the Pro) would be a truck that you buy if you want to purchase and leave it as-is. If you are going to do upgrades anyways, then the OR makes the most sense, at least in my opinion.

 

I think maybe if one were to purchase a trail, they would leave it stock. This isn’t because the truck is any “better”. It’s kind of just because the people that buy the trail edition aren’t looking to add suspension, leds, sliders, etc. just a place to stash the inflatable couch.

 

Ya, I probably didn't word that how I wanted to lol. I didn't mean that the Trail was better, because it lacks some features that the OR has. But like you said, it's a good truck for someone that wants a capable truck that looks cool, as-is and leave it be. As far as the Pro, I would only buy the Pro if I was happy with with it as-is. If I wanted to get a capable truck that I was also going to customize then the OR would be my choice.

 

One of the worst trail items is it doesn’t come with fogs?! So then, is it presided? And do you have to get a stalk switch? But those rims

I think it has something to do with lighting laws, llRC if you buy the Toyota lift kit it automatically deletes the Fog Lights.

 

That’s a state to state thing. Fog lights get eliminated if you add the lift only in certain states. Some people just put them back in (obv). Maybe it’s one of those things with Toyota. If someone pays extra for some “permanently” mounted coolers then they’ll buy fog lights at the dealer.

 

That's crazy. But now that you say that, I saw some YouTube vids with a 21 TRDOR with the TRD factory lift and it didn't have fogs.

Can SR5s get fogs from the factory? My 14 SR5 was pretty optioned out (for an SR5) but it had no fogs.

 

Just saw the Pro will have multi view camera's. Wonder if it will be an option on the Trail?

Just playing with numbers available l still think the Trail Edition is going to be above the Sport/OR in price. It says the 2022 TE is $40,635 of that $3675 was the cost of adding to base SR5. 40,635 - 3,675 = $36,960 and this year's SR5 is $35,555 , so a $1,405 increase. The current Off Road/Sport is $37,530 plus a $1,405 increase would be $38,935.

 

I think the 22 Trail is a really interesting truck. To me you get a lot more off road usability than the sport, for essentially (in Canada anyway) the same price. Here in Canada the 21 model was only $300 less than the sport and OR, which didn't make any sense as it was just a cool coloured SR5, but my dealer said they hardly sold any. I'm considering buying the trail this year though. To me the biggest upgrade with the OR is the crawl control and MTS, the other things are nice, but not a lot that I'd pay more for. I personally don't think of the Bilstein 5100s as being an upgrade. I ran them on my last 4runner and found them no better than the stock shocks, plus they failed sooner. If the OR came with cooler wheels, I'd likely take it over the trail though.

That's interesting. Well if that were the case, I would buy the OR over the TE.

 

I'm not sure on the exact options of the TE, but the one video I saw the TE had dual zone CC, where my base OR only has manual HVAC.

I really just want to see the break down of options to justify the price of the models.

I feel really bad for owners of the 21 TE since Toyota immediately rendered that year obsolete.

 

'22 is a whole new ball game with the new options available vs. the '21 TE. Has a whole new price as well.

yes, I’m really interested to find out the new Canadian pricing. Seems like they added some stuff but also took some stuff away - like the fog lights. It also looks from the videos I’ve seen that it has the SR non LED DRL headlights, where the 21 trail here had the LED ones. But I’m hoping once they land I’ll be wrong.

 

Dual Zone was made standard equipment on V6 models starting in 2021 llRC.

 

Yeah I went to Toyota and built a 21 TE and it had it as well so I figured there was some change made at some point I missed.
