powering 10 led lights (strip) off head unit remote wire?

Yes I know this sounds stupid but I wanted a light when the system was on and had this silicone 10 led light strip. 3 leds run 20 milamps so 60 miliamps and remote wire can handle .5 amps.
It was a down and dirty solution to trick my truck out.

 

Best way to tell is to check the gauge of the wire you're going to be splicing into and see if it's rated for the max current you're going to be pulling through it.

Otherwise the system just just pull the power that the lights want up to the point of whatever the fuse limits it to

 

Ok, well its pretty thin wire. They say in general the draw for remote wire is .5 amps
LED's are 20 milliamps per light and I have 20 so thats 200 milliamps
I dont want to blow the remote wire theres no fuse although I could put one inline, .5 amp fuse.
