I just recently picked up a 2009 tacoma access cab that has factory led tail lights. I was looking for a set of replacements and the style I came across states they do not work with factory led tail lights. Does anyone know why this is? Thanks in advance

Don't think you have led tail lights now.

My 2007 doesn't have factory led tail lights, I put VipmotoZ led tail lights on mine. Work fine

    He has an 09.

Google TO2801177 for an OE sample.

Different wiring would be my bet.

The connector for the LED tail light might be different vs. the halogen connector on factory wiring?

I will have to pull the taillight out and compare the wiring to a halogen system

The OE incandescent and LED tail lamps are completely interchangeable. At least they are on my 2015. (There's a sub-harness that's different between the two that should come with the light assembly.)

If a 2009 has OE LED, they've most likely been changed. That truck would have had incandescent bulbs originally -- wasn't 2010 the first model year for LED?

Pretty sure 09-11 were the same in terms of tail lights.

you can plug in an LED taillight into an 05-09 and it will work. Might have hyperflash, but it should work
