I’ll definitely keep you posted! Me and @Torspd are still gathering materials, but at some point I’ll be heading down to Houston for a weekend or two to mock things up and have him use my truck to build a manifold off of.

Got a cheap eBay cargo basket for the camper shell and it came in four pieces. So I took some time today and practiced on the tig and made it into a one piece.


need to hit a couple spots on the wind fairing where the welds didn’t hold, and then I’m going to make some feet to mount it to the tracks on the shell.

I found something...

 

Man those look great!! I was looking at some pics of the header studs earlier and I think these may call for some longer studs. I’ll have to measure but the LCE header looks quite a bit thinner than those at the flange

 

These are half inch thick. If the OEM studs are the same as those on the 1GR, then they should fit just fine.

 

They are indeed, so we should be good to go then. That LCE header flange must be thicker than it looks

 

Took me a while but finally got the feet built with it mounted 1/2” above the tracks on the roof. Painted it black and reinstalled just in time for it to start raining. I used 3/4”x1/8” steel flat bar for the slides on the tracks and drilled and tapped them for M8x1.25 bolts.

 

I’ve been practicing with the tig lately trying to do some everyday in an effort to improve. Today I turned the heat way down and finally the welds have some color to them and they aren’t as dark. This was using 35 amps. With stainless I’ve been spending a ton of time trying to get the fitment perfect and that has helped tremendously with the final product and not needing to use any filler

 

That must have taken a little while to get the puddle to form at 35 amps, on what I imagine is 16 gauge. The good side to that, is you have much more time to really see what it going on.

 

Got these in my hands today. 2TR turbo header flanges, ready for work.

 

Yes it does and I found I have to move slower too or the puddle doesn’t keep up. Also noticed that I have to use the full pedal stroke pretty much the whole time. I was curious though how low you could go, and it seems like this is the bottom end of the spectrum

Those are purty! What kind of things would you like me to order so we can round up the materials for this little project?

 

I am going to order some stuff first. Get an idea. Then I'll let you know.

 

Been doing a few things to the truck lately. Got a universal rotopax mount and some locking handles and moved the gas to the basket to get it off the back of the truck where it was previously. Finally I ordered a badge for a 2TR-FE Hilux and plasti dipped and installed that today. Other than that just been trying to practice welding a little everyday using the scrap I have laying around. It’s been a fun little hobby
