Took a spin today and was surprised at the struggle going up around
those narly passes - dropped to S Mode and it appeared to help. On
the way home I used ECT and the response was much much better
going through those hilly passes. Anyone else surprised at the struggle
and/or use ECT going through those passes?

The KDMax ECU flash is not detectable by the dealer. No reason real reason not to do it. I wish I had done it back when I was stock so don’t wait. It’s also the only thing that will help the issue you’re describing.

Glad to hear you were spared the fires - they were tough - if there are nearby areas that are open for someone to setup camp
for a night let me know - forest roads - something stock tires can handle, no lift, just 4WD. Wife has given me the thumbs up
to just go - ( get the hell out LOL ) - I'm retired so I got time.

Not to hijack your thread. I read that dealers can't see the KDmax flashing? I'm only a year into my truck just want to CMA. Last question would bloody basin be a good place to start off with going offroad to get some experience with a stock truck?
    Thanks!

Curious about the KDmax.. any downsides? Like mileage goes to shit more so than the lift/tires/rack combo already has?

    RE: Bloody Basin
Looks like a relatively decent drive, question is ( to anyone ) will stock everything cut it.
If so, I'd rather go with another person should some issue arise. I'm pretty much a loner but
I do NOT want to have to change a flat by myself... and if kidnapped by a UFO I'd want witnesses.

Idk... this may be a me thing, but I never have any issues going up to flag with lag on those passes, but that may because im accelerating into the start of the hill already doing 85.

HA - Good idea - I think a time or two I got trapped in a deal where I had to let off as I couldn't hit the left lane to pass
and got started in a rut. I'm confident now however that running ECT as soon as I start getting into those hills will do a
    world of good.

Yeah, checking in with 35s, stock gears and a gofastcamper + about 500 extra lbs of other shit and no issue whatsoever getting up 17 or any other mountain at 80+ if wanted/needed. This engine loves to rev, just keep it above 4000 and it does great.

    Yep.

You didnt say anything in the first post about fuel mileage concerns, only that it seemed to struggle. If fuel economy and power to get up a hill is your concern, you got the wrong vehicle.

Ha ha - ain't that concerned about fuel economy, although today I was happy to see 24 MPG avg - I mean you gotta put gas in the things
if it's $1.00 a gallon or $2.00 a gallon or $3.xx a gallon you still gotta fill it up. Was just a bit surprised that the V6 felt like my 4 cylinder
Jeep Patriot, and nothing like the wife's 4 cylinder Forester ... then again I think she gets pretty heavy on the pedal -

I'll just try to keep her revved up a bit more, try to stay clear of folks ahead of me running slower - and see what the next trip brings.

Gonna slip up to Sedona next week I think to check out a little boon-docking-potential at 34°52’33.7″N 111°54’19.1″W

I don't work anymore and got nothing better to do 'eh - grab my Nikon, pack a small cooler with water, strap on my S&W, tune in to Spotify and go.

    upload_2021-9-10_20-17-24.jpg

Snapped these at Dead Horse - saw some WHOPPER fish jumping - spied a Heron and a King Fisher..
Hey you guys should get together and buy me the Nikon 200-500mm lens so I can get some real images LOL...
