The whole purpose of pin detents are to not let the socket off. Meant for overhead work where loosing a socket off the tool could hurt someone below..

Cool thanks for the replies. Ive used my high-torque 2767-20 plenty. No complaints with Milwaukee's particular version of the "hog ring", I just dont like them in general. :notsure:

This is exactly what Im afraid of haha
Interesting. Dont see why the industry couldnt make a releasable detent though. Just like a ratchet

I'd guess its because of how fast it spins. might be difficult to implement something that strong, or might be cost prohibitive.

Anybody use their flex head ratcheting wrenches? Thinking about picking a set up for $270 at Home Depot. Are they worth it?

For working on the truck? Meh I haven’t got into a predicament where I thought a flexible ratcheting wrench would be an advantage. Better off with the M-12 3/8 ratchet and a universal joint and some Harbor freight 3/8 impact sockets for the money. The long 10,12,14 and 19mm in a gear wrench is about all the ratcheting wrenchs you need.

I find plenty of uses where even a stubby socket/ratchet won't fit and a wrench is the only tool that'll fit...

    20210910_094352.jpg

Agreed. Tekton isn't the best, but they are a great bang for the buck. Since Milwaukee doesn't really have much selection in the torque wrench and impact game, I've found that Tekton is a good middle ground. I work in a field where tools (torque wrenches, meters etc) have to be calibrated every 6 months and get spot checked at random on a monthly basis. The Tekton torque wrenches always seem to keep calibrated and regularly fall in tolerance. After seeing them perform reliably for years, I've filled my home tool box with Milwaukee and Tekton...

most of my hand wrenches, my two torque wrenches, and my impact sockets (that I use on my Milwaukee impact guns) are Tekton. I'm for sure a weekend warrior, at best, and the Tekton stuff has been great for me.

How am I just now seeing this thread? I'm drinkin some of that red koolaid too.

I used to make my living with these, but now they just do garage and housework.

Let's see - where am I with these:

    M12:

    2x FUEL 1/4" impact
    2x Trouble light
Inflator with Prestacycle adapter for bikes
    Rotary tool
    Multitool
    FUEL drill
    ~15 batteries - different denominations
    3/8" Ratchet
    Charger/power source
    Power source

    M18:

    FUEL 1/4" Impact
    FUEL drill
    Brushless impact
    Brushless drill
    FUEL Hackzall
    Vacuum
    Fan
    Gen 2 Rover floodlight
    ~12 batteries - different denominations

    Medium Packout
    Small Packout
    Lineman
    Various bit sets

Probably some other stuff I'm forgetting.

Favorites? By far the M12 FUEL 1/4" impact. Liked it so much I bought another. Trouble lights are also high on the list. I keep an M12 power source on me for bike rides for charging lights, phone, mp3 player, etc. Inflator gets used almost daily. Fan gets used more than I thought it would too.

Least favorite? M12 compact vacuum. I loved it so little it went back after a few days. Me and a work pal got a helluva kick out of its performance - as in a good laugh. That thing choked on a thimble full of drywall dust - just completely rendered it useless. That's the only exception though. Everything else has exceeded my expectations.

I discovered after buying the M12 FUEL kit that I mostly no longer needed my 18v stuff. It's fun putting that head to head against the Ridgid and DeWilt stuff my cohorts were using & being able to keep up. The size and weight are indispensable for pro AV work. I can wear the impact all day long & hardly know it's there. It has more than enough power for 99% of jobs & it's a tough little bastard.

Agreed, these chargers indeed multiply when left alone in the dark. I've gotten some good ideas what to do with all the M12 chargers from this thread.

Forgot to add. I recently replaced all of the treads & risers on a set of stairs going to the 2nd floor on an apartment building. Also had to add blocking here and there where the stringers were compromised. Used that M12 saw for every cut. Think I had one bar/dot left on the 3.0 XC battery when I was done.
