I'm trying to see if anyone has the TRD Skid plate for the 2nd Gen Tacoma and if it covers the Oil drain bolt like the 3rd gen TRD Skid does. Pics would be great and thanks for the help.

Here's my TRD Aluminum skid plate (painted black). That semi circular cutout allows access.

You can find OEM TRD skids for about $50.

There is a saying in life. "You get what you pay for"

If you paid $50, then you aren't getting shit.
From what I understand, it's a weak thin flimsy piece of light aluminum that damages easily, offers little protection, and was installed to look cool in a flat parking lot in LA as a way of ripping you off $300 from the accessory catalog

easy oil access. and it does look cool. offers at least a little protection. not against boulders. bought mine for $20 on craigslist.

I know this isn't your question , it's just my opinion, I would spring for a "RCI" or something similar, give the Tacoma the protection it deserves! jmop

well here is a serious question. do people actually need them? i do off road my truck a couple times a month. some fire roads and then some more sever stuff. i only have factory skids (never been dinged) and i have steps, not sliders. i did scratch those due to a break over angle over some dirt. im just careful picking my lines and not going where i know my truck wont make it. just think a lot of people proabaly dont need the big heavy skids. oem is plenty

picture of my 4runner that also had factory skids and just steps. which i did smack a rock on, but it held up fine.

It's like any investment in armor such as bumpers, skids, etc.. You don't purposely buy those things to intentionally go ramming into things but when it does occur, your most prized possession that you are sitting in doesn't get damaged. It just takes one mishap and the cost of repair and downtime greatly exceeds the investment in armor.
