Ocean Shores really is a crap hole. No joke.
Get a good doctor to prescribe you a lot of anti-depressants. The place sucks balls.

Yes, it's just a matter of time until a single Tsunami completely obliterates that place, and wipes it off the map.
And, of course, Global Warming and Sea Level Rise will eventually swallow it all anyway.

“The Rodanthe Bridge, commonly called the Jug Handle Bridge,[1] is a 2.4-mile-long (3.9 km) two-lane "jug handle" trestle bridge currently under construction in Dare County, North Carolina. The bridge will carry North Carolina Highway 12 from Rodanthe to the southern point of Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge by going west into the Pamlico Sound and then parallel an area of the Cape Hatteras Island that is prone to coastal erosion, washouts, and flooding from storms due to sea level rise and climate change.[2]

Come visit, WA is beautiful , ocean shores is cool, tons of stuff to do if you like clamming, fishing, and beach relaxation time. There are many good beaches in ca but WA ones are nice. if you get a chance go check out Neah bay,. and salt creek campground.

"Open Sores". I think you should move to Hoquiam. That's where its at. Big SoCal vibes in that town.

Hey, I'm a PNW transplant from socal myself. I'm not gonna harsh transplants. Especially ones that take root. But Aberdeen (aka, nevermind, aka, Kurt put it on the map) is your closest town. YMMV. And imho .. I like slightly rustic, small cities, but go wander about it a bit. Gets a little depressing.

I don't know what you expect out of semi-retirement. Good luck, though.

I do love visiting Westport and twin harbor. Surfing, fishing, and crabbing are great but would not like to live there year round.
