A.R.E. DCU Cap Plus RTT reinstalled

    This past week and this weekend I completed installing, bracing, and waterproofing (especially the notorious Toyota back bed rail) an A.R.E. DCU cap on the Taco. LOVE it.


    I also added some structural bracing to tie the ceiling to the bed. This is in prep for mounting my RTT to the top. I think at this point I could probably land a helicopter on it :). In addition to the box rails I also through bolted the cap to the bed rails, and added a couple of additional strap brackets at the high stress points. The attachment of the down rails may not seem that strong but is designed for vertical forces at the center of mass on the roof to be proportionally sent to the bed, while still allowing a tiny bit of fore/aft movement.

    Mounted the tent back on today. Used the rails that originally came with it and through bolted them. Also mounted a 1/8" thick, 2" wide rubber strip under the rails.
