Twitch57's 2021 SR 4x4 DCSB Build Thread

This will be pretty boring in the beginning, but down the road it will be nice to have it all documented. My apologies in advanced. I am new to Toys and Tacos but not wrenching

I just picked up a bare bones 2021 SR 4x4 double cab short bed, my thinking being save money not getting all the extra stuff I dont want and spend it on building it the way I want.

I had a 98 Jeep TJ on 35s that was pretty built up that I sold when my son was born.

Plan is for this truck to grow with my boy and allow us to explore the southwest.

I plan on owning the truck for 15 - 20 years. In the beginning it will be a basic camping / dad mobile, but as it out grows the warranty and my boy grows bigger to do more the truck will grow too.

My vision is a rig that can haul my son and I just about anywhere with the jon boat on top and the bikes on a hitch. most camping will be in the tent but we can retreat to the shell if needed.

Here is the rough plan

Stage 1 - Camp in AZ regardless of season without winding up on the news - next few months

• Bilstein 5100 1.5 inch front level
• Toyo open country III
• Basic tools and recovery

Stage 1.5 - Improved comfort / utility - Next few years as finances dictate

• Dual battery
• Lights
• Ham radio / repeater
• Advanced Self Recovery gear
• Specific tool kit

Stage 2 - Dedicated recreation / wheeler - 3 - 5 years

• Front skid - CBI?
• Engine skid
• Gas skid
• 3 inch lift
• Differential drop
• Gearing
• Lockers
• Camper
• Hitch carrier
• Roof rack

I still need to come up with a name.
I called my Jeep "Sex Panther" because 60% of the time, it works every time
