Buying a used 2nd gen - what do I look for?

Hey! I'm going to be buying a used second gen tacoma in the upcoming months, what should I look for and what should I avoid?

Look out for rust states. Other than that the normal maintenance done.

I like my 11 TRD sport.

 

Check the frame. If getting a 4.0 manual trans try and find a 12-15 as those years got the latest trans revision. 05-06 had head gasket issues.

 

Check the frame THOROUGHLY for rust.

 

Agreed with above, pretty much one issue is make sure the frame is good if it’s not from a dry state like California or Arizona.
05-06 had some head gasket issues, but other than that it’s just normal maintenance, quality care like with any car, and collisions.
