My limited came with the goofy plastic clad aluminum wheels in 18 x 7.5 inch size. The OEM tires were 30.5 tall road treads. I refuse to spend a huge amount of my truck budget on wheels - if the chromed plastic gets too tacky I'm just going strip it off and clean or paint the aluminum. To keep my outfit in "road runner" trim but gain some differential height, my new tires are Geolanders in 255-70-18 size........32.0 high. Not so knobby looking but have a nicer ride due to the sidewall height increase - and the whole truck went up 3/4 wth no rubbing. So I'm a believer in 255's.

Anyone have a 255/80/17 in the stock spare location?

    Thanks,

    John

I'm currently debating between the Wildpeaks in 255/80r17 and the st maxx in the same size.

Just to give y'all a heads up, I just put the 255/80/17 St maxx on my truck and so far no rubbing ill take it out this weekend and verify on the trail. I have 5100s all around with the front on the 3rd setting (1.75 i think, OEM coils) stock TRD Sport rims.

After some good wheeling these started rubbing on the UCAs, some spacers should fix that. Im on stock TRD sport rims.

Seems like a bad idea. Seems too close the the exhaust.

I’m about to get 255/80/R17’s so I’m watching to see how to fit a spare.

Aight quick update. agree with the thread completely, although the tire will fit it’s definitely not an ideal spot even with the heat shield. ended up moving to a side bed mount setup. Overall I’m happy with it I didn’t lose to much bed space and gained alittle underbody.

Can I ask what area rubbed? And are you running stock suspension?
