20210915_231510.jpg Whenever I put my vehicle in park and turn off the headlights, the radio lights and ac controls get so bright. When the headlights are on, the radio lights get dim which I love and want it to be all the time.

It's annoying because anyone can see me inside because it's so bright, even when I turn off the screen. Also annoying when I'm have to sleep in my truck, the lights make it so hard to fall asleep

I've looked everywhere for hours and can't find the solution or anyone having the same issue as me

My truck is a 2018 tacoma trd sport, idk if thatll make a difference

If anyone has an answer, PLEASE HELP, it annoys me so much

Not sure, but aren't they adjustable through the instrument cluster. Turn the odometer rest knob left to dim and right to brighten.

If you’re prepared to do some wiring, you simply need to fake the headlight trigger wire signal in the back of the headunit so it thinks the headlights are on all the time.
But I also “thought” they were dimmable with the dashboard dimmer switch, but that’s going to effect all the dash lights.

If i recall you twist the little stick near the odometer or push it in and hold it to toggle that stuff i cant remember because its been like 5498746513216854132146541313 Years since i played with that.

OP if you use the black stick by the odometer and click it to the left it will dim the lights but only so much and only some of them. Drives me crazy in every vehicle I have owned I could turn it all the way to off and it turned all the lights off. It does not dim the light on the gear shift I am making a cover to put over mine for when I am driving at night as it is really distracting seeing it out of the corner of my eye.

You would have to "fool" the circuit, that would require removing the input on each system connector and placing a fused feed tied to IGN. That way the system (Radio & A/C) will be getting the input to behave as if TAILs are always ON (dim).

Who are you stalking that you need to sit in your vehicle, with it running, at night, with all the interior lights off?

The button you use to reset trip odometer can be turned like a dial to dim the lights.

I've tried that, it only dims the little screen, not the side of the radio

Yeah I've tried the dashboard dimmer, it's actually at the lowest setting rn but it doesn't affect the radio side lights

Private Investigation, Stalker? Not that I'm judging. Easiest solution is just have a towel in the truck to drape down from the dash.
