Was your truck final assembly in Mexico or San Antonio ? Just curious, that may provide a directional hint to the underlying cause.

Wasn't there an issue with radiator mounts and/or cab mounts causing this same noise?

Im gonna put money on a loose cab mount, on the side the noise is coming from.

Slow sharp turn isnt enough force to cycle the suspension, so instead of the coilover cycling it tweaks the cab mount and you get a clunk.

Im guessing hes asking because of the quality control topics on Toyota's new production facilities. The Baja facility has been producing Tacomas since 2002 so Im sure they have the wrinkles ironed out by now

I had a clunk that started at about 25k or so. Initially, it would happen just once in each direction. At first it was gentle, and I chalked it up to the brake pads moving in the calipers. It started getting louder, and by 40k, the stock suspension was toast. At 50k with the noise getting louder and would happen in any hard turn.

I checked over all of the fasteners up front. Nothing was loose, and it was no help. Finally at 55k, I started swapping out parts. After I replaced the front cab mounts, it quieted down significantly. After I swapped in new front shocks with reused stock coils, the sound was completely gone.

I would ask them to look at / swap at least the front two body mounts, if not all six. Maybe the other coilover also?

Also early in my Taco's life, I had to snug up the rear body mounts as they settled and would squeak almost like the leafs do.

Don't laugh, its happened till they decide they've had it long enough, and give it back saying they never saw the problem, or it didn't happen for them.

Thank you for the good info. I will mention the body mount next time they call. When I walking the around the parking lot they had tons of modified tacomas parked out back. Turns out most were employee vehicles so Im pretty confident they will figure it out.

    You're welcome!

Tacos (and TW) tend to get folks into mods. Hopefully they get you sorted out quickly.

I dropped it off Mon morning. About 11am they called and said they could not duplicate the noise. I went back about noon with the tech and got it to duplicate the noise without leaving the parking lot. They have acknowledged hearing the noise as of noon on Mon.

I noticed a slight clunk in mine a few times when I first bought it when slowly turning left out of the parking lot at work, sounded like it came from the truck bed. 8000 miles later haven’t heard it since, either they fixed the parking lot or shit settled in lol.

Have them check the front body mounts (radiator support area). They are often misaligned during assembly and it doesn't take long for the metal to cut through them.

I had a similar problem and ripped my suspension apart probably 10 times, re-torqueing everything, and couldn't find the source. The dealer found it and told me it's a known problem.

My 2021 had 38 miles on it when I removed the stock front suspension and UCA to install Bilstein 5100, and SPC UCA's with some 285's.

IFS has a funny issue "perfect storm" if the front coils are positioned in a certain location/orientation, the alignment is set at a certain spec, the coils can contact the sway bar or have some type of binding and popping sound while turning at slow speed. The sound is rather unique. To correct this you need to rotate the coils on the struts to a different orientation.

If it was a loose body mount like another member suggested the sound would be a like thumping inside the cab.

Wrong. It sounded like a suspension clunk/pop kind of noise.

You are the second person to mention that so it must be more of a common issue. Thank you

Seriously, I tortured myself trying to track down the noise. Do yourself a favor and just have the dealership check them.
