This may be a stupid question but, if a front axle that comes out of a vehicle with the steering column on the right, can it be used for a swap into a vehicle on the left?

I haven’t found any info on this across a few forums. Perhaps people haven’t tried it? Or that it’s common knowledge that it doesn’t work.

    Thanks

The only differences between left and right oriented steering is which side it attaches to the axle. As long as there's a steering setup to make it orientated to your truck there shouldn't be a problem. Like high steer for the mini truck axles.

Prado solid axle is coil sprung so it'll also have a panhard bar bracket that'll be on the wrong side.--no big deal if you're converting to leafs or doing custom links, you'll just be cutting it off.
Also, 1985-1989 Prado shared knuckles with with the SFA minitruck and SFA 4runner, 1990-1992ish Prado shared knuckles with the 1990-1992ish 70 series heavy duty Land Cruiser (I *think* same knuckle balls still as before, but larger birfield and knuckle?--need to cross reference part numbers still), and the 1992-1995 Prado shared knuckles with the similar years heavy duty 70 series which had the larger knuckles balls.

So, it can be done, but I'd make extra sure what you're getting before you get it.
